shoot him? why? I say drug him, tie him down, and paint his entire body with every color from the rainbow. That way, when he wakes up, he'll think he just got tortured by Leprachauns for stealing their rainbow gold!
Ah, I see now. Marxist, you believe quoting web site links as factual, informative, or justification for you "beliefs"? And those were reports from some "reporter" analyzing said events out in Florida?!
Hmm. Where's the real ignorance here? Some of us actually live along the Gulf Coast line and were actually there, so go back to your precious little google repo for your "wealth" of enlightenment...
Nevermind. Scratch that. I found the actual video through a wikipedia link. It was rapper Kanye West and he did use the terminology as cited above, not "hate". Damn, don't I look the dumbass...
I thought the actual quote by that guy was, "George Bush hates black people." I saw the last half of that live, and I know who Mike Meyers is, but, who was that black gentleman? I didn't recognize him...
Maybe you need to add a little spice to your computer marriage. Dr. Phil recommends throwing a wig over your monitor and playing "full metal jacket - me so hony.mp3" in the background as you surf...
Stupid AC. I think the FPU on your Pentium "FOOF" machine is jacking up your S/MIME'd message. I wrote a python script using brute force to decypher the content of your reply:

FP FP FP? You beat me to the first post, bitch! You may have beaten me this time, but just you wait til slashdot offers up another delicious google article or links to another blog as a technical resource. Will I read it? Most certainly I will since I have nothing better to do than read slashdot all day as my skin grows ever whiter from the steady rads hitting me from my monitor. You will not beat me to another fp again! Why? Because I will sit here on my ass for a whole hour hitting refresh.

Lay off 20 smurfs who hand paint each letter as it rolls by on the conveyor belt. Tell marketing it's a new design. Suckor some tool to post it on a "news for nerds" site. Profit deez nutz...
2007, 5 o'clock local news:
"...and in our next story, Google OS Vice President of operations, Bill Gates, says a 3 year contract agreement has been reached with the recently awakened clone, Einstein-beta2-markIV. And in related news, GOOG shares on NASDAQ soar to $666 a share..."
Everytime a bug meteor rips through my cornfield, I step out on my front porch and shake my fist at the clouds,
"ma?! hey ma! anuder one of them blasted moon terds done tore up my crops again. Now, get yo lazy ass off the couch and throw it next to that hunk of metal called SKY L B.."
wrong. Try to build anything to withstand a CAT5 hurricane and we'll patent it and make a fortune. I've built houses along the Gulf Coast, and I know what goes into their construction. You can build whatever dikes you want to TRY and halt the water too, but 150+ mph winds will rip your little "theory" to shreds. Second, the funds have _always_ been there from the federal level, but State treasuries rob from it to balance their own budget much like they stick their hands into the Federal Transportation funds.
You ever been swept away in high water before? I have. It took my 5000 lb. chevy and tossed it about like a ragdoll (from fast moving currents, not slow oceanic swells you can siphon off somewhere). Now, imagine trying to divert the Misissippi swells, oceanic tsunami like poundings, torential rainpour, and tornados all present in Hurricanes (which _persist_ for hours) all at once! I wish you well, but the comparisons to Europe and SE Asia are laughable at best...
It's naive, no egocentric, to believe you can control the ferocity mother nature brings down with a Hurricane. The better solution is to evacuate. Period. Stop comparing apples to oranges when it comes to mother nature. Advice like yours and other naive/.'rs here will only lead to future deaths, assuming state/federal officials and countless staff members holding Doctorates in Meteorology are stupid enough to listen to/.'rs in the first place.
Fortunately, we can learn from this lesson and take better pre and post measures to evacuate those who were too poor (and/or left behind) that evacuation. The funds will better serve future life by managing what you can, not engineering to prevent what you cannot. Hell, even earthquake comparisons? Gimme a break. Even "earthquake" proof buildings which sway on their footings cannot withstand _sustained_ pounding. Would you suggest people stay in those buildings if they _knew_ beforehand the earthquake was coming? Hurricanes - no comparison...to anything. Show me one engineering feat which withstands the _constant_ tide of lava flow (of Vesuvius/Pompeii proportions) from erupting volcanoes...then we'll talk.
Oh, jeebus. You actually comparing that with hurricanes? Your "freak winds" are no more powerful than the intermittent ones between my legs. In fact, let me raise my leg...(frrRrrRRRTT!)...oops! There goes another one of your precious little dikes. (frrrRrRRTT!)...oops! and another...and another...and another...
There's no comparison - tornadoes, flooding, +150mph wind that'll rip your skin off, constant wave bounce on the scale of _several_ tsunamis, etc.
Here's your 2 cents right back at ya. Go buy yourself a clue...
Whoa. Scarcasm? How much effort did that reply take? You lost me @ "Yeah".
Eccles is correct in that local funds are _always_ appropriated more directly to the need. The federal level is fantastic at doling out funds, but suck at appropriating them. When's the last time your Federal Transportation state funds were actually used for, um, roads? Write your State congressman and ask him for an audit of said funds.
New Orleans - 7 feet , but it's bordered by the mighty Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain on two sides.
* Hurricanes flood the entire lower Mississippi delta, spilling forth rapidly from other states into New Orleans >> (much much greater) than a steady upsurge from the Northsee, a two wave tsunami, or whatever...
Sol'n?
Spend mucho billions of dollars on remaking the New Orleans landscape into a dyke haven, taking several years? Or, spend several paultry million on better evacuation plans - through transportation infrastructure, awareness, etc.?
The hurricane will roll over and destroy any property anyhow, protected by dykes or otherwise. So, it's the people (not the property) which should be the focus here...
Yes, you're right. I actually noticed that tax on my phone bill, and I pay around ~$7 alone just for fees/taxes on my phone bill. I don't think that's what Greve (?) had in mind though. By the way, watch your phone bill carefully! I had switched to cable (at one time) and that fee still applied. I don't think using the phone company's ISP has anything to do with it. Those fat cat phone company CEO biatches!
Article? What article?! This is a blog site. We dohn neede no steenkeen blawgs.
/., oh, how the mighty have fallen. Get me some real news from real websites - with flashy ad pop ups and real tech articles having ball-buster computer acronymns and discourse, requiring a dictionary as you read.
However, you do reach a point where so many revisions, albeit GPLv1, v2, LPGL, BSD, et cetera, make it confusing for us developers with no background in law.
By the way, taxing internet users?! Good luck with that one...
I already bring a radio to the baseball games. Why don't the stadiums just broadcast the big screen feeds in wifi too, so I can watch it on my 802.11g rollable paper?
Maybe they could feed snack vendor prices in there to with a javascript pop up window. Sweet...
