but it does work, it wont prevent anyone who really wants to get in, but it does stop 90% of the casual population from opening it up just to have a look, me and my brother would have opened our gamebodys when we were younger if they had standard screws, im glad we didnt
While i Feel sympathetic for the Company under fire, this is only good news for consumers, when my mother read this she thought it was shocking and is appauled at the DMCA, having not known what it meant before
Stories in the press like this only hurt the Big bad Companys, by raising awareness
You forget that the hardcore gamers are 1% of the overall gaming market, if nintendo sells to its targeted demographic, then it will be n1 , and not by a few sales, but by many hundreds of thousands of sales
Look at the DS, it didnt cater to the Hardcore market like the PSP did, and the sales figures speak for themself
Halo 1 (2 we dont enjoy as much, but each to his own) (X-box) Super Smash Brothers (Game Cube) Total Annihilation (Also See, Supreme Commander, which will have Co-Op) (Pc) Monkey Ball (Game Cube, or soon to be Wii) Eye Toy (PS2)
To be honest for multiplayer in the front room/ House, its usually easyer to go the console route, but for online, the PC is still where its At- but if you have 5 or 6 pc's networked up all the time, PC still works
TBH, its also dependent on if you want Co-Op or 1v1/+
The problem is a blue-Ray Player, and the blue ray Media are both extreemly expensive, and the consumer has to pick up the Tab, even if he doesnt want a Blue-Ray Player
As a UK Dweller my whole life me and my girlfreind have made the decision to move to New Zealand in a few years time.
After a trip over there last summer to stay with family, we decided the quality of life over there is fantastic, the nation as a whole is more open minded and free thinking (doesnt have americas hangups on sex, or The UK's hangups on violence for example) House prices are pretty reasonable, and of course, cant forget the scenery (Remember LOTR)
So as soon as ive finished my uni degree, its off over there
In a similar fashion to steam, arena-net already allows for the game to be bought online and downloaded, the nice difference being download on demand.
for example, i download the thin client from the website, it installs some base files (and really only the bare minimum) then at every loading screen a little more is downloaded until all the content is on your computer.
i don't have to pay for it monthy, i dont see why *all* future models are assumed to be pay monthly for the right to own models
i can see steam like clients beccoming more and more common, but until we get faster net connections, theres just no way of easly streaming that much content.
those who prefer Playing Skills over Grind time play Guildwars
Level cap of 20, it only taks 20-30 hours to reach full level and have a bag full of "Phat Loot" , then its all about your playing skills.
Guildwars had a pvp sneak preview of the upcoming chapter (expansion doesnt cut it, its a full seperate game, that you can "plug in" to your old account) and a new end game dungeon we had to download 10-15 megs each, with most people logging in over the space of an hour, and the server was down for about 10 minutes. Guildwars might only have a fith/quater of WoW's population (5 Million VS 1Million a few months ago) , but it does also have nowhere near the funding (a year of WoW , 24 quid for the game, a tenner a month= well over 100 pounds (I belive this is correct) , guildwars= 24 pounds to buy and no fees)
If guildwars can get it right, i see no reason why WoW cant
Open Office will open and print any PDF
Personally i'd find it irritating to be a skirmisher and limited in firepower, in most single player games you kill hundreds-thousands of NPC's
i cant see this being balanced to be fun for all, somebodys going to get the short end of the stick
Should i be worried that i got a 'Nam flashback when i saw the wooden crates picture?
Here in the UK, we often get screwed, as much as i adore my Wii, it costs $80 a Pop for games here
£425 for a console is obscene, people here just wont buy it (the average household income is 18K here- before Tax)
many people refuse to buy the X360 here because of the price (300 for the decent package)
while we can get gamecubes, PS2's, Xboxs and Wii's for 100200 here, the 360 and PS3 dont have a chance
Addiction is when we have a Psycological addiction to somthing
I can balance my enjoyment with paying the bills, seeing the girlfreind, ect, and addict cant, why?
because he has lost his sense of self control, he cannot bring himself away without withdrawl symptoms
Its all in the balance, you are an addict when you cannot maintain the balance, and put yourself in harms way (such as losing your job home and wife)
Speak for yourself, i found UT99, Unreal 1, and Ut2004 to be some of the best multiplayer FPS of all time
UT99 is still played more on the LAN at every college in the area than any other game
but it does work, it wont prevent anyone who really wants to get in, but it does stop 90% of the casual population from opening it up just to have a look, me and my brother would have opened our gamebodys when we were younger if they had standard screws, im glad we didnt
(of course my DS is custom now, i know better)
I have my wii coming on december the 8th (UK)
have been waiting for this so i can work out how to Mod my console, looks to be nice and simple
NASA is using old technology because it is tried and tested, and thus Safe
even if a new system would work better, one flaw can cost millions in money, millenia of combined work time, or even worse, human lives
AMD Could afford a few flaws slipping through, and just make a few revisions for the 1.5, NASA cant
A lot of people seem to be having issues working out why AMD is doing this
people are forgetting that they are not always the target market for computers (this isnt aimed at you if you upgrade one more than the other)
for example, what is easyer for your computer illiterate father to do, change one slot component, or install a graphics card , and a cpu.
it also allows for even smaller form computers
i will concede, that these gains are pretty small though, i cant see it being worth it
Oh God Mine Eyes!!!!!11
(Yeah even if i had been stupid enough to click it, Im de-sensitised by now anyways)

And Again, We the british Public ask, what exactly have we gained from being forced to pay over our hard earned cash for these cards?
Dont get me wrong, i think linus is a great guy, and appreciate his work everyday, but a hero?
IMO a hero is a Volenteer fireman, or somebody of the such, im not so sure donating free software consitutes a "Hero" status

If reading books and self teaching arnt your thing, helping out a complicated open source project is a great way to learn more and help a good cause

Usually i cannot stand people who say "Im Boycotting XYZ because of this" because it rarely makes a difference
But in this case, i can see this working, theres a lot of momentum behind the boycott now, from both this and past offenses
I Hope Sony gets whats coming to them
Chalk me up for the Boycot, this is several grands worth of spending money nintendo and toshiba will be enjoying instead
I Disagree Completely, for UT2004 having more buttons is a godsend, its not unusual to change weapons 4 or 5 times in 15 seconds in a dual
The Best Mice for the situation is better determined by the "Game" not the genre, and more importantly, the better mouse is decided by the user
I can see it now, my world with creatures full of all the other players creations
by which i mean hundreds of clones of giant penis creatures, and the dreaded goatse monster.....
(dont mod this funny, im not joking...)
Until they start putting these brain monitoring headsets on the staff at work, now how am i supposed to doze off!

The Disk isnt dead yet
Sounds like marketing suicide......
