Don't let it bother you, lots of people that read here don't understand much about fixing computers, programs, etc. Just read some comments when anything 802.* wireless is in the news... eeek. If you are having problems, check out the forums on DSLReports.com or Anandtech.com. People there can help you very quickly with just about anything computer related.
Well if a virus was written to send out mass spam email, it should be pretty darn easy to track it back to who wrote it. Open the email, follow the money trail. These types of virus writers are not doing it for free. Others that want to just cause havok are a different story.
Out of touch with the real world? Who are you kidding? The people that make laws get mounds of cash from groups lobbying for all these issues. Welcome to the real world!
Why not just use a Centurion Guard unit. Let them install whatever the hell they want. Once the computer reboots its back to normal state. You can even format the hard drive. Won't do a damn thing when it reboots.
Your millions of average consumers won't have a clue on how to use a crack or even a simple workaround. Just look at Macrovision protection in DVD players for proof of that.
Another good link for Backscatter X-Ray

Beyond being able to see your body in all it's glory, it can also see through cars, trucks, etc.
Instead of posting useless links in this article (FBI, Secret Service) how about linking up the Poseidon program (http://www.poseidon-tech.com/us/index.html) or Backscatter X-Ray (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/07/17/evening news/main563797.shtml)?
Who the hell cares about links to the FBI and Secret Service?
I've had my Kyrocera Smartphone (Palm powered) for over a year now. I've been wanting a colored version for some time now, but Sprint has yet to release one with the features I want.
I refuse to buy a PDA without phone service built in. There is no way I'll go back.
"Fans will love the new realism this lends to the game, as the enemy shoots out your cover right in front of your face, or when you find yourself knocking over stacks of crates in search for ammunition or painkillers."
Woah. And I thought I was the only one who hid their ammunition and painkillers inside stacks of crates. Now that's what I call realism!
You got that right. I used to buy music all the time, now I refuse to buy any. I have not bought a single album in 2 years as a direct result of the RIAAs actions in this time.

Give me a break already. Yeah - everyone belives that pirates are/good/. They also belive that bugs can talk, we can shink people, and walk into our closet and go into another dimension. Now if you will excuse me, I have a date with Snow White and I'd hate to keep her waiting.
"All because a company made some inept software. Yuck."
Or not. Any programmer worth their salt knew full well that it's so easily bypassed. I'd bet that this company was just waiting for this exact thing to happen and then unleash the lawyers. Win against the little guy - then go after the big bucks.
Yeah because obviously ISPs don't spend any time or money setting up filters and blocks and reporting tools and information pages for the customers and reports to execs etc etc. Go ask AOL or Verizon or SBC or Adelphia or USWest etc etc how mnay thousands of hours they have spend to combat spam.
Don't overlook the reason we must keep our cars up to date - safety. An unsafe car can kill. You honestly can't say the same thing about a personal computer.

So then do we have rights to paid content? Will HBO, Cinemax, etc, channels never use the broadcast flag?

I've bought hundreds. Blanks, that is.

The B&W Kyocera smartphone with the Palm m100 built in?
Mine has never crashed, used it for over a year now. I love it. Battery life is 3 days or so of off and on use.
Nice troll, however.

Look at the photo again. It looks like it does, the slider is on the right of the lens.
It's also very unlikely anyone will every need a computer on their desk, or need more than 512KB of RAM, or more than 20MB of hard disk space or...

I do all of that on my PDA. I have games, my outlook date book, etc. My PDA is a Kyocera Smartphone. Palm powered. :)

Amazon spams? I have yet to recieve an email from Amazon beyond my order confirmation, I've ordered from them for years.
But a trojan is not 100% fail proof. 98% or so.

Why didn't she rip it into a dozen little pieces is also a good question.
Sounds like you need to just turn off the computer and find something else to do. Obviously the web is no more of use to you.
If so, sign me up!
