Perhaps I was a bit off in conveying my intent with the comment title. It should have been more like "Random Card theories that always get mentioned on Slashdot whenever he is". As for the Wiki, I never read the one on OSC.
Wasn't there some great theory at one point that Ender's Game was nothing more than an apology for Hitler?
What about that Ender's Game was actually written by a comittee, that this comittee abandoned him for "Speaker for the Dead", but decided to write "Xenocide" for him.
How about the least crazy one, that one of his series was a fairly direct retelling of The Book of Mormon.
I'm pretty sure that that you'd be violating the DMCA. While the act itself may simply be an attempt to circumvent Fair Use, going against it is breaking the law until the Supreme Court takes it off the books.
with such a long development cycle, an unforseen complication might take more than a month to deal with. So what happens then? You either release a product that could easily have been much better with a little more time, time that would really only have been a small fraction of the whole, or you completely blow your quarterly profits. Destryoing a potentially great product to prevent a very temporary dip in stock price can be very detrimental to the health of the company, but it happens far too often.
I was wondering if anyone knows how console software sales were affected the year before the PS2 was released? It just seems to me that many consumers are choosing to save some of their money for the new consoles, and that the drop in revenue is nothing more than expected.
Perhaps it's just me, but I've always felt that the quarterly system does not fit the video game industry very well. Judging the health of the company four times a year when their base products take eighteen months to develop just seems insane to me. Even with something the size of EA, dictating when a product needs to be out for the sake of quarterly earnings can only hurt the long term health of the company.
I don't know, I guess I feel the world has watched "Wallstreet" one too many times.
P.S. EA sucks
You have to consider how much more time falling once in today's games sets you back as opposed to something like Ninja Gaiden. On a good run through, all the levels are maybe two or three minutes long, where in today's games, a set back might set you back as much as ten minutes (Not counting the ones that seem to intentionally throw you back an hour for screwing up), which is much more time consuming and frustrating than games of yore.
Disclaimer: I have not played Shadow of the Colossus, so this whole thing might be completely off-base.
There has been speculation that Microsoft will attempt to create an artificial sellout. Rather than shipping out everything they can, they will only ship less than what they think can sell out in one day, simply to create a buzz. A little later, they will ship units that were ready for day one.
I remember reading the first Myst book and enjoying it, but it wasn't quite good enough that I actively tried to read the sequels. If I ever see them while in between books, I might pick them up.
OH NO! Seriously, after watching the eleven o'clock news for a month, and seeing FIVE stories about stripperobics, on the same channel, within that period, I lost anything resembling respect for todays news services.
I have a feeling a lot of people are scratching their heads as to why that was marked funny. Then again, this being slashdot...
So if I were to, say, take my old textbook and bludgeon to death my 9th grade English teacher, that would be a perfectly legal use of my copy? Cool.
Just trying to combine a few expected threads.

Then I would suggest you never, ever take cs107 at Stanford.

Have you tried watching TV lately? Find me a show that doesn't fit your description of commercials, and I'll show you one not long for this world.
You evil bastard, now I want a 360.

I do...
Wasn't this the plot of Revenge of the Nerds 3?
Somehow, this made me feel old. I never even watched the movie, just that one clip, but it still maked me feel old.
