Unhealthy in what sense? Is it any more or less unhealthy than a pro football player practicing to the point of injury so he can make top $ at his sport?
It's a market, just like any other. Just because it is nothing more than entertaining to the average lay person does not mean it is unhealthy or invalid. Other examples of officialy recognised sports that cause real physical damage are boxing and other full contact sports. Are those unhealthy too?

I think anything that causes personal life to become unmanegable is unhealthy. As for the rest, if they can be successful at it - more power to them. They have found a way to make money and get sponsorships playign video games then they have tapped a market that for many is a lifelong dream. Good for them I say.

I would _love_ to see a registry of murderers.
RE: Violent Pornography - its not the violent porn, its not the music, its not the bottle - its the individuals pattern of behavior surrounding that fixation.
Many people drink - it takes that extra special person to kill someone for driving drunk.
Ths whole world watches porn *gasp - say not so!* (admit it - the more you gawk the more you want to watch) - it is one of the biggest industries out there. And the oldest.
Its just not polite. Sex.. isnt polite. Oh well. Its the first thing determined about us when we are born. Sex. Its a [insert gender here] Its the most fundamental thing that defines us.
This guy didnt kill anyone because he watched violent porn. He killed because he was disturbed and those in his life enabled him to continue being disturbed. Most governments perfer to engage in punitive policymaking rather than preventitive. This is punitive and reactionary. And it doesnt solve anything. Moreover - LOL - it wont stop violent porn from being made, and watched. Who do they think they are kidding.

I have to wonder what your circumstances are that you can have such a smug attitude. Have you never dealt with "the system"? Or are you just so lucky that you are in it (job) or have never had to deal with it? The simple fact is that bloated systems such as the US Govt. aren't out to make criminals of everyone. But its very bloated nature causes people to get stuck very easily when they become a number on a piece of paper with no regard for concequences down the line. Sally Paperpusher has no concept or care of whos life she is changing when she stamps her stack of papers to hand to Bob Wantsabreak. _THAT_ is what is going on. It is simply too big to be manegable anymore. The letter of the law is paramount. And the more letters there are in the law - the more conflicting and restricting it becomes. Imagine a really huge game of Magic: The Gathering - except the game is several rooms large, and never stops. And now imagine that the players just dont care.
