How many others have rigged as a rule? Enron had an entire Energy Securities Trade Center occupying a floor of an office building in Houston. They rigged that demo for the gov't.... The gov't rigged its missle tests (and those still failed!).
No need to mod or flame. I just think its interesting/sad that companies stoop to this level. Now excuse me as I go rig my code so my boss will sign off on it before the deadline...
How would sites written in Flash be accessible to disabled users of the internet, that rely on alt-tags and other items to navigate a site successfully. I had a hard enough time trying to navigate DoCoMo's website (in flash) through the Babelfish translator. I can only imagine how hard it would be were the site in English and the user blind or unable to use their hands/fingers/etc....
I love Brent! So much for a romantic valentine's day post proclaiming my feelings for him. I guess they aren't kidding about using that preview button instead of submit....
.... for that stupid "Battlebots" arena-cheering track. I also couldn't see anything for the poor camera editing - they loved showing headshots, but what about the food? Oh well. At least Shatner was looking fabulous!
I envision east coast/west coast style Emacs/Vi battles.
I can almost hear the Script Kiddies... no, Script Playah's saying: "Word, yo! Emacs be tha muthafuckin gleem bling bling! i get all up on that, and then I be rollin on my 20s wit my posse bringin up tha linux rear, word! Where the cristal at?"

Just a heads up to all who remember this movie, starring Peter Gallagher. Shows the FBI chasing the WTC bombers, and alot from the bombers side. It gave me chills when I saw it, and I'm setting TiVo to record this tomorrow - the listing came from a link off of the IMDb:
Path to Paradise(1997)
THMAX 09:40AM-11:15AM Friday Sep 14
Did anyone see South Park this past week? Trey, ever the visionary had the RS 450 SMART Towel, with synthetic fibers to fluff itself to adjust to the users level of wetness. Embedded chips and everything...
I was surprised to see the brave 'lil webserver still churning out pages an hour after this story was posted. My cue-crap didn't last an hour of use, and that was free =/
Lexx is the best series out there since they started a particular style with season 2 - using a whole complete season of 20+ episodes to tell a story arc, much like the time tested methods of afternoon soap operas. Miss one episode, and you're a bit behind. Miss several, and you're clueless. But keep up, and you'll find a richer, deeper kind of storytelling than you'll find on any other show - be it american, german, australian, whoever!
Kudos to the folks at Salter Street producing and writing Lexx. This season is already shaping up to look as good as the last one, with the Earth being ground zero in some kind of fundamental battle as the Fire/Water planets were last season. As a side note to those following the show so far - any clue what those robot things are that crawled up Lister and the cat's behinds?
You know the plot without seeing the movie, but one interesting thing about this film, which goes against expectations, is the way Witherspoon's (who was great in Clueless character hangs on to her odd values.
I hate to nitpick, but do you mean Witherspoon was great in Clueless? Or that a character like hers was great in Clueless? If it's the former, methinks the IMDb stands to correct you - if its the latter, your grammar hath confused me...
I saw this post when searching for Dianora on google. I've not used IRC in years and am unfamiliar with the battles going on... but perhaps something in these threads can explain exactly what happened to cause the DoS?
The site's slow for me... probably swamped already. Here's a repost for ease-of-viewing:

Hi,
I have just received a dissuasion from an Adobe lawyer that the name "KIllustrator" would violate Adobe's trademark and I should pay 2500
euro. So, I have closed the website at the moment. Could somebody with access to koffice.org remove all information about and links to Killu,
please?
Thanks,
Kai

Amen! Its those reasons that I use when I try to pursuade others not to use Windows... I get the impression MS is trying to do something sneaky when most any windows app I use tries to install the latest version of IE automagically...:-/
Long ago, when I was a young one in my middle class elementary school in suburban DC, we were lucky enough to go to the computer lab once a week or so, twice if we were in the G/T program.
They would try to work with us by letting us play school standards like "math blaster" or word games, but our favorites by far, which not only got us comfortable with the computer itself, but interacting with it, was Oregon Trail. While this is no substitute for a solid course of study for your summer camp program - treating the kids to something enjoyable, a computer recess if you will, is vital to keeping them interested and engaged in what they're doing.
Read this article at Suck to find out more about what its like to work with Martin Lawrence on the set of this movie. Among some highlights are
The 4+ trailers for he and his posse
The firing of production assistants for mistakes he made
His temper tantrums, storming off the set, and general bad behavior
After reading that story last year, I had to dig it back up when I saw the first commercials for WTWTCH. I must say, it only confirmed my hearty desire to avoid it like the plague.
Hi Alex -
You were on The Daily Show awhile back, weren't you? If I'm recalling right, you were very entertaining on the show:)
However, I wanted to know that your rings provide imortality, right? Well.... all debates about the scientific properties aside, exactly 'how immortal' do your rings make their wearers?
Merriam-Webster defines immortality as an unending existence, being exempt from death, or being exempt from oblivion. If your rings provided that quality - how do you postulate the future conditions of the earth, and your ring-wearers' ability to survive in less-than-ideal conditions? Extreme cold? Lack of food? Toxic atmosphere? By Webster's definition of immortality, I would imagine being able to do all the things Superman does - tunnel through the earth, fly around the sun, hang out in the Fortress of Solitude... well, maybe not that last one, but you get what I'm saying.
How do your rings account for these extreme conditions, assuming that they will 'prevent death'?

I know that I cried when my slashdot love proposed to me....

The only days that will be happier than that are our wedding day, and anytime a 'child process' is spawned in the future
I always throught Happy Fun Ball was the most dangerous SNL toy....
I sure wish they made those, though a few of the random toys out of the grocery store quarter machines probably are as "safe" as HFB...
Say hello to "iFlat"

Can someone tell me what the estimates will be in Dallas for the duration of the shower? I can't view the page using Mozilla 0.9.5 on OS X. phooey :P

I didn't notice the date on that was 1998. I'll say that's a bit stale for these purposes...
