  1. Well OF COURSE you want to let them know you are retiring with plenty of notice. How else will you get the surprise cake in the conference room with all your co-workers awkwardly standing around the table doing a fake applause at your accomplishments?

  2. Meanwhile, my request for whole album FLAC/CUE support with Plex has been going on for years now. So if this is born of the same code, it won't be replacing Foobar2000 anytime soon.

  3. Hmm. Interesting article.

  4. My brain blinks when I think of something I need to do in another room and after I walk there, it blinks to something else and I forget the reason I went there.

  5. Nuff said. Take everything that comes out of there with a shovel of salt. If they aren't challenging the status quo (whether justified or not), then they aren't Berkeley.

Drinkable water is not a human right because it took the time, talent and money of someone to make it, and they are not giving it away for free. To do so would put them out of business and then there would be no more free filtered water.

You can have all free seawater you want.

And..why stop at filtered water? What about flavored water, or carbonated? At what point would it pass the free line?

I preferred the 32-bit version of Windows 7 in some of my computers for many reasons. For one, I liked some 16-bit Windows apps that don't run on 64-bit OS's. I also had some hardware with drivers only available on 32-bit. When Microsoft pulled the plug on XP, there wasn't much choice.

Agreed. Like many things I read on the Internet, people are just looking for ways to demonize established practices just to make them look better.

Oh, and regarding Active Learning? Yeah. How exactly would you do that teaching about Nazi Germany outside of a well-informed lecture?

I'm still happy running Windows 7 on all my computers. If/when I have to upgrade to 10, is there an application out there that customizes and turns off all the crap for you? I know there have been many articles about settings you can tweak to make it tolerable, but I figure somebody has condensed that into something more automatic? Like a GWX Control Panel for Windows 10?

  15. Came here for the Trump jokes. Not disappointed so far.

  16. Administrative costs are rising because of the number of superfluous positions being created in our PC world. Directors of Multiculturalism, LGBT, Race, Gender etc. Everybody needs a Director of something. Everybody feels slighted for some reason and needs a counselor to talk to.

  17. I have no problem with companies or schools paying the price for foolish behavior. No backup to the guy who was up to speed before they fired him? Shame on them.

  23. Does that mean Microsoft will finally stop spamming my perfect Windows 7 installs with Win10 upgrades?

  24. If this means people can write better apps geared towards the kernel, I'm all for it. There aren't any (or any good) WiFi scanner apps available for iOS like Android. It would be nice to have that in my toolkit. Apple has prevented such apps before in the past.

  25. See, it's this reason alone why I will never work for lawyers...or date one. Never. They give themselves a bad name.
