This isn't exactly the article's point, but.... the resolution war has to stop soon. Right now H.265 covers 4K just fine, and probably a little higher. Humans can't discern more than that at normal TV viewing distances. Do we really need 8K or 16K TV's? I'm still rocking my 1080p just fine.
Now before people say I sound like Gates when he said 640K is enough RAM, we're talking about a human sensory limitation. CD's are 44.1k and hi-def sources go up to 96k and a (honestly...) ridiculous resolution of 192k in some cases. We've hit our limit. Nobody can argue that 384k is needed. When do we reach that point for video, outside of theater size screens?
Well in your opinion. I think elegance is more important than brute force. AMD chips run hotter, have a higher TDP and worse chipsets overall than Intel. Honestly other than INITIAL price, there isn't anything they do better. Cost has nothing to do with the quality of the chips. And if you have multiple computers at your house (or business), electricity matters. I leave a couple low powered (Intel) servers running 24/7. I wouldn't want to do that without Intel CPU's and Intel graphics.
I saw the original trilogy in the theater starting at the age of 11. To this day, Star Wars is still the movie I've seen the most repeatedly in the theater - six times. Part of that was because the movie was great for its time, but also admittedly I thought I'd never see it again. These are pre-VHS and Betamax days.
After the episodes 1-3 came out I realized everything you said. Lucas was a one/two hit wonder, so to speak He was Pearl Jam 10 or GnR Appetite for Destruction. He started off strong then fizzled out. I find it funny how my peers love Star Wars so much when it's not deserved. They value the fantasy more than the reality.
To be fair, nobody should be purchasing Chrysler or Dodge anyway. How many times do they have to be listed as the least reliable cars for people to care?
My kids wanted to start driving at 15.5 years old. They wanted a car to be independent. Other kids I know valued their iPhone at age 12 and a couple of them didn't even "bother" getting a driver's license until age 20 while they were studying some bullshit degree at college.
Wanna guess which kids will grow up to get a job and want to move out?
Despite our typewriter roots, I think two spaces is even more relevant today. We uses periods for all kinds of things - most notably domain names. Having the extra space does indeed make it more readable, and if nothing else, more definite on what constitutes an end of a sentence versus some other function that periods (dots) define in modern lingo.
The cable companies would see an increase in sustainability if they literally cut their costs in half. Spending $100-200 for Cable and Internet is ridiculous. They have no one to blame but themselves. There is nothing stopping them from negotiating better fees from the failing cable networks they thrust upon us.
This was debated 10 years ago. 16:9 was NEVER the right ratio for computing, it was simply easier for the manufacturers to produce one aspect ratio. Using the HDTV AR as as reason for productive work on a PC was always stupid.
If somebody lives remote in the boonies, in a swamp (Shrek), or on a mountain, chances are they picked it precisely because it was away from civilization. They aren't complaining about lack of Internet any more than they complain about an hour drive to buy groceries. Unless they are farmers (for which there should be an exception, because I thank them daily for providing us food), we really shouldn't care.
If you are a farmer with acres of beans or a ranch raising cattle so I can eat steak, then yes, we should try harder to get you Netflix or porn. Otherwise, shame on you for building a log cabin in the middle of nowhere expecting modern amenities.
I have no problem with Facebook censoring (or Hufffington Post having an extreme liberal view, for example), but I do have a problem with them professing they allow free speech or have an unbiased view. They do not. Facebook, Google and YouTube clearly discriminate against views they disagree with. They are no better than Stormfront in some cases, except that they have the media on their side to not label them as such.
I can't think of any "music by committee" that's any good. A couple people working together in a band? Sure... but today's pop music is not a beacon of imagination. Perhaps diversity means throwing in some rap in the middle of an R&B song.
Who developed 5G? Because nationalizing a 5G network will work NOW but what about the next iteration? If private companies don't own it, who will do the R&D for 6G? Certainly not the government. Will Verizon or AT&T care anymore if they have to share the wealth? The short term success might be marred by long term goals.
ie. We can also nationalize all medicine and current drugs will be cheaper, but who's gonna do the research on new ones?
There needs to be some level of interest for private companies.
This always reduces to a lowest common denominator. The lower paid won't raise to the higher productivity. The higher productive will lower themselves.
To what purpose will suing Intel get these guys? Ambulance chasers will get some money, sure, but the rest of us will just get screwed if Intel decides to pass along the costs to us. I mean, it's not like we have a choice. AMD isn't a consideration in the server space I play in.

Are you getting in a car to go to work? I'm pretty sure liberals drive just as much.

AMD hasn't been better since Core2Duo came out. If you want to factor cost then, maybe.

You know, I like nano better than vi. Maybe get rid of vi and make any reference to it run nano instead.....said no one.

Most of this data is irrelevant unless you're a teenage girl who doesn't use a protective case so it'll fit in her back pocket.
Race relations deteriorated because of Obama. Sorry but you are wrong. And your opinion means as much as mine.

Is it okay to help somebody spend the money after they robbed a bank?
Every Democrat that supports open borders and illegal aliens breaks the law, so that's all of them.

Yep, pretty much. This sums it up:

I don't care if you are Left or Right. If you can't admit the hypocrisy on your side, you're a shit.

Especially in South Chicago.
Not to throw this into the right wing, but is it residents or illegals responsible for the rise in crime? Just curious.

Yep, they might as well try to build an open source spaceship while they're at it.
