  5. Re:Quit wondering and drop the label! on NYT Opinion Piece on DRM And P2P · · Score: -1

All hail the Creative Commons, if I were in a band, that would be our lisence, DRM is always to restrictive and drives down the numbers of people who listen to your music. The DRM on iTunes is pretty fair, but it has to be played in iTunes or a iPod because of it, generic MP3 players are left out, this is the restrictive part to me. DRM had it's place, and it is worth it in some cases, but in it's current state it is not Play(ing) Fair to consumers. And how did the parent get marked redundant, it is the first non-stupid post in the thread, do we have rouge mods again?

The average, now AVERAGE, obviously if you visit /. you are NOT 'average' person doesn't care about DRM, UNLESS it contains a Rootkit or it prevents them from doing something they should be able to do, like ripping a CD to copy to your MP3 player. Also just to shut people up about Sony and the rootkit, don't blame all of Sony, for one they didn't know(maybe?), and second only Sony BMG is to blame, Sony Electronics etc.. do their own thing and had nothing to do about it. Anwyas, the only part of the parent that will matter to a 'average' consumer is cost.
