Building large enough infrastructure in advance instead of building to size and then trying to expand is not a bad approach, our Berlin Brandenburg airport is not even finished yet and it is already to small for the projected traffic.

That is not about just transmission losses, but also the size of the cable. Replacing old cables in a densely populated city that became quite power hungry during the past 50 years might be problematic. Superconducting cables are somewhat thinner than normal cables with the same capacity. Alternatively they can be operated with far lower voltages, eliminating the need for substations. That was the reasoning behind the ampacity project in Essen.

Q400 is a bad example. It is a very inefficient turboprop, built for speed as a jet replacement for quick turnaround times. Since it is quite a bit faster, fewer units are required to serve a route. Also faster airplanes usually get higher (hence more efficient) flight levels from the ATC.

This is, by the way, why the cost per unit distance is the wrong measurement.

That Alice is not this kind of a commercial aircraft anyway, more a replacement for the King Air kind of aircraft, or, judging from the looks of it, is meant to directly compete with the Piaggio P180.
