    Gas turbines are used in peaking power plants because they are able to start up very fast. They almost never are used for base load because their efficency sucks.

    Arjun is 10 tons heavier, needs one more crew member, makes a bigger target and is basically Leopard 2A4 with indigen electronics. And the A4 batch of Leopard 2 is already obsolete. Not that T90 is a very good tank, though.

    Because the sun (you know, that glowing ball of light in the sky) does not care about maintaining computers easier. And the time is all about the sun. Also, if you need the time to be saved as yyyy-mm-dd to sort it correctly, then your implementation of date sucks because you save the date as a character string.

    As I've already mentioned elsewhere, a split keyboard, using a digitizer instead of a mouse and then starting playing guitar helped me much.

    Yep, definitely strengthening together with ergonomic keyboard and mouse

    I used to have RSI years ago, now I don't even need the wrist braces. A Microsoft Natural keyboard helped a lot, a digitizer instead of a mouse helped even more.
    And then I started to play guitar and I think it has helped the most.

    Also, bending the world to better suit our needs is a double edged sword. Why do you think that your need to make a quick buck is more important than my need to breathe clean air?

    You do know that trees not only eat carbon dioxide and produce oxygen, but also stop the wind and prevent soil erosion, right?
    In other words, without trees fertile land becomes steppe or even desert.

    I think you exaggerate. Even my old Kodak P&S (CX7430) which I've passed to my mother years ago beats the crap out of every current phone camera picture quality wise. And that one was made in 2004.

    AFAIR this is 0.95 mSv/h, which is already not very healthy and about as much radiation as humans normally get in a year. And this is the lowest value that was measured. On the way to Pripyat' that guy catched 15 mSv/h.

    He doesn't care much, though because he hasn't got long to live anyway. This picture above is pretty much my fault, I was interested in a trip through the zone, he showed me why I rather shouldn't.

    Because not everyone is always in the internet with their phones. In fact most people probably aren't. It is way too expensive.
    Also all phones are capable of receiving short messages, not all phones are capable of receiving email or running some IM.

    Side by side is a bad idea. I've been told that there should be about 50 cm space between two GPS antennas to avoid interferences.

    Guess what.
    There are still some people out there who just don't like laptops (the last one I've bought was a HP Omnibook 510 made in 2003). And in that case you've got the choice between a cripple (Mac Mini) or a way overpowered Mac Pro. Apple doesn't offer a reasonable fast desktop machine (Two mid-range graphic cards, two hard disks in RAID 0, a decent dual core CPU) for a reasonable price.

    Not really. My point was that while there are some nuts, you broadly dismiss even people with perfectly valid concerns.
    You hear that people are against - for example - chlorinated drinking water and rant that those people are irrational, while in fact don't have to be, maybe they just are aware of better (or at least tastier) ways of disinfecting water.

    In case of vaccination there is no better way yet, though.

    I think you've got some things mixed up. There is no need to fluoridate water if people actually do brush their teeth. There is more than enough fluoride in tooth paste. For those who don't, fluoridated table salt isn't a bad method. As to chlorinated drinking water, I've got my share of it living in the USSR. In Germany, where I live for the last 17 years, chlorination is only seldom used, the water is usually purified by UV and ozone (with the exception of swimming pool water, of course). The water tastes much better this way.
