Saying that it happened about 2684 years ago implies (at least to me) that they can date it between precisely 2683 and 2685 years. Does it not strike anyone else as odd that they could pinpoint something that long ago so precisely?
Gmail will let you set up virtual email addresses. So you can register as MrBig+Facebook@gmail.com instead of MrBig@gmail.com. All the email still goes to MrBig@gmail.com, but tricks like the one in TFA do not work.
The successor with the the B-2B bomber. There won't actually be a bomber. It will just be a huge funds transfer to the military industrial complex, which will then in turn transfer it to a bunch of sub-contractors. And by "sub-contractors", I mean political donors.
Oh, it's worse than that. The iPhone relies on ubiquitous data for many, if not nearly all of its marque applications. Maps, music, app updates, games, video, etc.
It was one of the most striking things about moving from a dumb phone to an iPhone "back in the day". Everything you needed, as much as you needed, as fast as that little pipe to the cloud could carry it. People used it. People liked it. People got used to it. People expected it. Then, as you say, AT&T and Verison realized that their profit margin on data was not nearly as high on iPhones than what passed for smart phones before and the days of unlimited data came to a close.
If AT&T ever cuts my grandfathered unlimited data plan, I will drop them like a hot rock.
Allow me the conceit of continuing to plunge a dagger into the dead vampire's heart once in awhile. After all, it does no harm to something dead, right?
For years (decades?), it has been my contention that all of Heinlein's books boil down to masturbation. Sometimes it's just mental masturbation, but masturbation nonetheless.
Yes, in fact. Though now they are in the habit of turning it back off to preserve battery life. I figure we will see a similar feature in Windows 10 or 11. Everyone will think that it is revolutionary and cutting edge. They will marvel at how infrequently it crashes.
You've never seen a back-water baptist church, have you?
Talk about your lowest common denominator...

It is a much rounder number in metric.

That is really a dumb idea. Of course they couldn't go at night.
They wouldn't be able to see anything.
But we have LED flashlights !!
...which are, unfortunately, solar powered.
Shine the flashlight at the solar panels. Problem solved.

Scratch that. Even with a transcript I don't care.
And just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not after you.
You can still be crazy even if you still have all your marbles.
And even then, over half are being renamed to "Closed".
Confederate flags in Wisconsin?
The mind boggles.

Yes, but your haiku

There are two kinds of social scientists: ... awe shit.
1. Those who create false dichotomies to make their point.
2.

Yup. Sounds like hyperbole to me.

I change ISPs fairly often and wanted a stable email address. Of the available free email providers, gmail offered the best service/features.
Remember when yahoo was all that and a bag of chips?
No. And I'm pretty sure that never happened.
Get the HELL off my lawn. I remember when Yahoo! would let you submit links for them to index. Damn kids and their fancy webcrawlers.
I think they just got tired of the "click start to turn off the computer" help desk joke.
Though I will challenge J. Random User to turn off Windows 8 without resorting to kicking the cord out of the wall.
You can't be too rich, too thin, or have a too big stick.
I get enough of this junk in my email inbox. I don't want to see it on /.
It's not about efficiency. It is about outsourcing everything to corporate fat cats.
Well, for a sufficiently large amount of finite, I suppose.
I 100% agree with your implicit argument that we should tax the shit out of capital gains.
Yes. But the data set from TFA only goes back to 1950. So your argument is largely moot.
What happens to the system when it displays planes that are not there?
Or conceals planes that are?
