  1. Site-Department-JobTitle on Suitable Naming Conventions For Workstations? · · Score: 1

I usually use a combination of the site name that the computer sits at, the department it is being used in, and the job title of the person using it. Oh, and each of these things are abbreviated. So a workstation name that appears like CO-AC-PC001 would be Central Office - Accounting - Payroll Clerk 001. Seems to work after you get used to what your "codes" stand for. I find tying the last part of the name to a job title instead of a user's name makes it easier when people come and go in positions.

As a dual geek couple (is that the proper term?) completing our 11th year of marriage, I have been the guy exactly described in the parent post: Try to be a good partner, but unknowingly lie to yourself about your true resentments. It's easy to do. Don't be that guy because it really does bite hard when you wake up years or decades later. It's funny how, you can have the best communication in the world between SOs, but communicating with yourself is rarely considered (and far more devastating). Too many people enter or run marriage with an over compromising "yes dear" mentality. True, marriage does involved some compromises, but it should happen with moderation. Oh, and I'm not sure how old you are, but my hope is at the least you are in your mid to late twenties. IMHO marriage should not be permitted to those under 25.

Liberum lets you track and and submit problems via a web based interface. As OP mentioned LDAP or AD integration is possible. You can store the data in an Access file or SQL. Perhaps mysql would work too...

The filters are supposed to be "adaptive", but there have been many cases where I keep "training" the filter of similar spam messages. Also it seems to only catch 50%-60% of the spam...

Don't get me wrong. Thunderbird is a great program (otherwise I'd be using something else). I just wish it was a little better on the spam control...

I suppose one alternative I could take would be to set up a spam filter on a seperate box. Note that "Integration with server side spam filtering." is a new feature!

There are still plenty of bugs to be worked out, however. For example, it is difficult to reproduce the brightness of sunlight on an LCD screen.

Wow, tell me about it... Although, I do have to admit that the 9.0 client download does say "x86 client - requires OpenMotif 2.2.x". So technically you don't really need the latest ...if that even matters. Here's the link to get OpenMotif.

Good to hear not everyone has this problem! But if you'd like more info on the error, you can Google for "./wfcmgr: error while loading shared libraries" or click here. That's just one of the errors. I was actually able to get Citrix Client 9 up and running on Mandriva (and I'm assuming this would be the same on Ubuntu) after I upgraded OpenMotif. The Manager started, I configured a connection, and even put in my credentials to log in. However, the connection repeatedly hung and crashed. Using Client v7.0 cleared the problem though...

A long time fan of Mandriva I decided to give the latest Ubuntu a try. I soon found out there is a problem with the 9.0 Citrix Linux client. True, you may be able to use an RDP connection to the server, but shadowing doesn't always work in this mode. I really should have given it more effort, but instead I moved on to try Mandriva 2006. The same thing existed there! In Mandriva I was eventually able to get it to work by installing the latest openmotif and using the 7.0 Citrix client. I'm sure the same solution probably works in Ubuntu...

Sure, Citrix may hardly be a requirment in most businesses. However, for those of us that do use it we're usually pretty dependent on it. Although this was a pretty serious problem I had with Ubuntu, it's still a great distro IMHO.

I think the idea is that it doesn't move as fast as a propeller: From TFA:

One of the primary environmental drawbacks of the propeller wind turbines is that they kill birds. The tips of the blades spin much faster than the wind speed, chopping through the air sometimes at speeds of 200 mph. The birds generally just don't see them coming.

The TMA vertical axis design flows with the wind, at the speed of the wind. "It looks like a building to the bird," said Taylor. "We've never seen a dead bird at our test site." Likely this is because birds don't normally fly into solid walls.

I am *really* looking forward to pop-up blocking improvements. It seems that when I first started using firefox (back in the early days) it caught the vast majority of pop-ups. Unfortunately, this also means I'm greated with 10 new pop ups. This happens every time and has really brought back the days before firefox (and no pop-up blocker).
