Yes, except that iTunes doesn't sell mp3s, in fact, none of the major online music companies do. If Google wanted to actually compete with iTunes, they will have to sell music in forms that can be played on the iPod, such as mp3 or ACC. Or, Google can go the complete other way and make their own music player to sell their music, but again, they will need to comete with the iPod. As long as Apple claims the market for music players, it will control the music sales. With Apple owning roughly 80% of the music player industry, why would Apple care who controls the other 20%. Let them fight over scraps while Apple takes the meat right off the bone!
When will Microsoft Realize that it is simply NOT a design company. Has anyone ever tried to use ANY Microsoft product to design anything? It is simply impossible! I am working on a project right now where my government client insists on using Microsoft poducts. I get to the point where I get so frustrated because the Product starts designing for me. It is constantly snapping tables together that I don't want together. It won't let me draw a line and end it where I want it to. And various other things like that. Microsoft has decided that they are being clever to help you complete a project that it ends up taking twice as long as it should because I have to go back and figure ways around the "features". Blah. Microsoft should just stop this. Bad Microsoft. Bad!
You know, I think I have heard this type of thing before. Didn't many years ago the French decide that they want to create their own custom communications system called the Telefax? They spent millions upon millions to implement the system, and now, with the advent of the internet, they are stuck with this legacy system that is doing nothing for them now but taking up space and wasting money? I think that if you leave the french to build their own private system, and have it pretty much become usless junk. That is what I feel will happen here too...
I'll have to agree with that. I was SURE that there was no way on having my tailgate up would produce less drag. I told my friends that, and not a single person believed me. I was like, "Come on guys, I saw it on Myth Busters!"
Yes, I will defnitely have to agree to that. I use my hand-me-down GBA (from my mom, nontheless!) and quickly picked up Advance Wars because of a friend's recommendation. I defintely have lost track of time in a few different instances because of this game that alomst got me in trouble. If it keeps me that occupied, it has to be good!
Ok, this could be a great thing for google. Granted, 5% is not a lot of stock by any means, but it is a start to gaining even a larger user base.
Think about people who use AOL. They don't tend to be people that use anything else. So, imagine a google branded browser, automatically using google search, being able to check you aol mail in gmail, and talking back and forth over the aim network. And, even above that, AOL still owns some broadband ISPs, so if Google were looking to get into the market, this is how they could do it. While AOL might be a sinking ship, Google is exactly the company that could bring them out of the slump. So, as I see it, a win-win situation for both companies...
I tell you, the last thing I want is getting a convulsion walking down the cereal aisle. Think of it, all those cereal boxes stacked on top of each other, all clamoring to get your attention.
I already avoid the cereal aisle, I guess this another reason to avoid it completely...
If I find out a way to infect the singal the honeypots are sending out, then I can infect even more people, because the people relying on the honeypot machines won't be running anti-virus programs themselves.
Nothing has changed, not at all. Even the article admits that it is the same old same old, but with a brand new spiffy suit. Changing the name does not change the function of the software.
I remember Gator from when I was a freshman in college. Everyone was installing it on their computers, I even admit to installing it on mine once. However, it was a beast to get rid of. I think I had to put a fresh install of windows on there to clear it up. Claria is no different from Gator, or any other spyware program, except is has a PR department. Well, whip-de-do!
If a part of an application, or the operating system itself, needs to updated, the Installer will call the Restart Manager, which looks to see if it can clear that part of the system so that it can be updated. If it can do that, it does, and that happens without a reboot.
Yes, and I am sure NOTHING could go wrong there...
Does anyone know what J. Michael Straczynski is up to these days? I keep hearing rumors that he is "doing something big", but nothing ever materializes out of it...
Didn't Apple have a market campaign a few years ago that had a brochure, that included the 5 steps for setting up the mac:
step 1 "Remove from box"
Step 2 "Plug in Cables"
Step 3 "Plug into wall"
Step 4 "Turn On"
Step 5 "enjoy"
I think it was during the time that Jeff Goldblum was spokesman...
It is good to see that things still haven't gotten complicated...
Haha, I appriciate the sympathy. Humor is an elusive thing, some people either have it, or they simply don't...
I think the title "Lord" is already being used by someone slightly more powerful then the proposed "Security Czar"
hmm, i think you need to have your review on a blog to get the free machine, not sure a posting on /. will work...
Who knew france would be the country to stick up for digital copy rights?
All that the EU is asking for is Microsoft's heart, soul, and mind. The same thing Microsoft has been demanding from us for years...
Oh man, mod -1

Common Sense... sometimes I think you ask for too much...
By now most readers have probably heard about Firefox
What is this "firefox" thing you speak of?
um, have you used AOL before?

I can understand why digital copies of music are illegal, but why is it illegal to post the lyrics to a song? Can someone help me there please?
screw.eu?
What does the Honda Civic have anything to do with Rhapsody? Anyone else see that?
Ok, I think i figured it out!
If I find out a way to infect the singal the honeypots are sending out, then I can infect even more people, because the people relying on the honeypot machines won't be running anti-virus programs themselves.
Hmm, that would be fun!
a lot has changed since then

i is funny, the company that first taught us there is life without advertising is the one trying to bring it back full tilt...
What is this "internet" thing you speak of?
You say, billions of people will use it?
That sounds good. Let's wait 15 years, and see if it will take off, then we'll see if we can make some money off of it.
Brilliant!
