The developers don't need that much of lead-time if there's nothing that effects them - like API changes or the addition of the Dashboard for people to develop for. But I think the Mactels came when they did because Apple was pressured to deliver. Ideally, I feel Apple would have liked to wait for Conroe and Merom, because why go 32bit-PPC to 64-bit PPC to 32-bit x86 to 64-bit x86? I mean, why not cut out 32-bit x86 if you can? It's a nice selling point - to be totally 64-bit in hardware, first-party software, and OS. They seem to want to sell themselves as "Yes we're on Intel, but we're using the cutting-edge stuff, like almost all dual-cores, and EFI instead of 'legacy' BIOS", as a way to differeniate from other companies (Who do have Dual Core, but not commonly in the main line [iMacs])
Leopard will come out "right around the time Vista does". We may see a preview of it at WWDC in August, but it may well not launch until anytime between November and January. But you're right. There are a lot of MS competitors who are upgrading in 2006. Firefox 2.0 will be out long before IE7 at this rate, and KDE, and Ubuntu will also get bumps. Exicting year in computing, for everyone but Windows fans.
Speaking of the state of online advertising... I have now seen two ads for CACIQUE Bras exclusively at Lane Bryant. Last time I checked I was male and I certainly don't need anything from the 36C-48DDD,F,G,&H cupsize range they advertise.
Obviously it's for your girlfri....oh, wait, nevermind.
Well, being a mac user, I've never suffered for want of games, and I'm sure the same carries over to Windows. All you have to do is be creative. For starters, there are addictive web-based games like Neopets or Nationstates that have no platform requirements. Then I imagine you could get something like Ur-Quan Masters or LinCity. Then hopefully pearpc and WINE'll get you somewhere. I mean pearpc could run most early Ambrosia games I bet, which is months of entertainment in and of itself, at low processor and graphics requirements. So yeah, you won't be able to play the latest GTA game, but there are options out there if you look.
Does it need a separate motherboard? Couldn't it be handled via PCI-Express or AGP like GPUs? That seems more practical because it divides the weight three-ways.
See my point is that I doubt they'd ever fully support all other browsers as well as IE, because they don't want to miss a chance to give IE another boost.
How does this work in relation to AMD's consideration of a physics coprocessor or another specialized processor? It seems like that solution is superior.
it's not so much about the word porn as it is about the word "girl" or "teen". The idea is that people looking for legitimate, clean things could run into porn. For instance, turn off safe search and Google image search "teen". Fourth result is a couple of nude girls. The idea is that some kid doing a report who needs a picture of a teen because it's about the nation's high schools might do just that. Ironically, I did that once when we looking for movies to show in our theatre, I googled something like awesome movies or something, and got a lot of porn results in normal google search.
Well then obviously they're doing you a service. They're saving you time in a pointless relationship. Do you want to marry some idiot who only cares about how rich you are? I mean, if someone's only going to marry me for money, or is going to be incredibly stereotyped against geeks, even attractive, personable ones they would otherwise date, I don't want to date them, and I assume you don't either.
Honestly, I can't see a girl having a great time, then googling you and finding out you're a geek, then going, "Well darn, I found an nice, kind, witty, entertaining and all-around great guy. Too bad he's good with computers". Would you really want to date someone like that?
I have a hard time feeling sympathy for anti-spyware companies. I mean, if crime ended tomorrow, the police would have to get different jobs. It is unfortunate, but it's a small price to pay compared to the benefits. And it's not like Americans would throw the resulting money away, we'd spend it on something else, so the overall economy shouldn't suffer.
He's got tubgirl in the title. I wouldn't be suprised if someone modded it down on that alone. If you don't understand why, Google Image search "tubgirl" Make sure to burn your retinas out first.
But the Creative Commons restrictions only apply if you use it above and beyond what copyright permits. It's like, "Yes, you can do extra stuff, as long as you agree to...", which beats the heck out of "If you want to do the normally legal stuff, you have to agree to..."
Remember that the base here is copyright, not public domain. Creative Commons is more restrictive than public domain, but more permissive than copyright. EULAs are less permissive than copyright.
I mean, obviously. Look at the Predacons. They're mostly insects and arachnids and stuff (the Ant, and the 2 spiders and the scorpion). Do you want your creations to turn evil and try to destroy the world? No, if you are doing cyborg/whatever animals, you need to do mammals, like the Maximals. Of course, it might be kind of awkward if a giant robo-gorilla came over to sniff me for bombs...
Given the enthusiasm of Linux's support base, I think it's safe to say that pretty much any device with a processor and RAM will run it sooner or later.
About to install Ubuntu on my iBook. First time for me for Linux.
1) Take $600 pre-orders of bloated video-game console 2) Use funds to build an awesome spaceship 3) Cancel production of console 4) Fly Away?? 5) Profit!!!!
This strikes me as very useful bio-medically, as there are a lot of things in that field that take a long time to test, or things that can't be tested physically, for ethical reasons.
If this is a risk of buying CDs, no wonder so many people pirate. I don't, but I can't understand how this is supposed to help Sony stop piracy. I'm sure some people pirate now just as a result of that, saying, well sorry, but I can't risk a rootkit.

Best of all, ASP.NET pages work in all browsers - including Firefox, Opera, Safari, and Internet Explorer.
Something from MS that works on MS competitors too? That's unusual. I mean, there's probably a catch in there somewhere, like with ActiveX.
How does this work in relation to AMD's consideration of a physics coprocessor or another specialized processor? It seems like that solution is superior.
I don't know. Ars technica ran an iPod over and it still worked.

And it's guaranteed to be good, or Balmer will throw a chair at him.
That was the funniest thing I've read all week. Mad Props to you sir, and Mod this guy UP

No, it runs a version of Windows CE, seeing as it has 64 MB of RAM.

Adapt to new anologies or die!
Adapt to new spelling or die!
(Sorry)
Just because the CEO thinks something is cool doesn't mean the general public will.
Is that a nice way of saying "Duke sucks?" Because I whole-heartedly agree.
