Boot a computer. Shortened version of "run a bootstrap program" - a program that allows a computer to lift itself by its own bootstraps (i.e. initialize a device and read enough of the OS loader from floppy/cassette tape/paper tape/whatever to load the rest of the OS.
Find a way to bind it to or build it into the skeletons of skyscrapers during construction. Calculating wind sway is part of the design process so optimizing placement for max power generated should be a fairly minor additional exercise. Admittedly the power generated is low but you could use it to charge the batteries in the emergency lights or run the pump in the lobby fountain or some other lower power background task. Yes, I'm aware that those aren't cost effective suggestions. They're just the first examples that came to mind. But any technology that is in common use becomes more cost effective and more efficient over time.
You mean like researching possibilities by asking questions of people who have already done it so that you can find out what works and what doesn't work so that you can avoid mistakes and blind alleys? You know, kinda like what the OP did on here?

It's kinda hard for me to ignore this bit of history. My mother was a Lab Technician in Oak Ridge during WWII (yes, I'm an older geek). Anyway, I grew up hearing stories from her about working in Oak Ridge and from my Dad about the war in Europe...so this "history" has a certain immediacy for me.
Frankly, I think a museum about the Manhattan Project is a wonderful idea. Maybe it makes some people uncomfortable to talk about it but it IS our history and should never be forgotten. Got save us from preserving (and teaching) an edited "good parts" history that doesn't give the unvarnished truth. Those were difficult years and they needed difficult decisions. We need to remember that so that we can learn from it.

TRUTH!!!! My youngest son just completed his Senior season of soccer. By the fast-twitch muscle theory, he shouldn't be a good soccer player but he is. On the soccer field, just about every other player is quicker off the line than him but any distance over about 10 yards, my son can run down any player on the field (his other sport is track where he's a distance runner). He has the stamina to stay in the entire game - and as a defensive mid, that's pretty good since his 'position' is the middle half of the field. Add in a knack for being able to stick like Velcro to whatever opposing player he's covering even if that player is behind him and you start to understand why his team voted him Best Defensive Player. But he shouldn't be as good as he is. He is that good because he loves the game and he really applies himself to it - something that test won't test for.
They're just SAYING they're looking for the Higgs. But what they're actually trying to do is corner the world BitCoin market! With the U.S's Credit Rating being downgraded they're anticipating BitCoin becoming the new international currency standard.
Back about 20 years or so ago I worked for a Bell Atlantic subsidiary. Everyone in the company got a little cast resin model of a mountain with telephone poles going over it in commemoration of them replacing the last Party Line. The cable was pulled over the mountain (in Kentucky IIRC) by mules.
