Essentially what TFA is doing. If your point is to keep people off your bandwidth, this will do it. It wont, however keep them from sniffing your traffic and invading your LAN.

That is not to mention all the free shit they give away that they could charge for. There's gold in them there hills.

    This is a joke right?

Music is an art. You dont have to be the best with a brush to make great are. Likewise, Skilled hands dont always make the most heartfelt pieces.

An artist needs to be proficient enough to express what they want, in the manner they truely envisioned because, thankfully, art is not defined by the strict confines of scientific/mathematical perfection.

  11. Re:One problem... on Firefox Usage Climbing · · Score: 1

    Yawn.

You can arbitrarily state whatever figures you want, those are your estimations, and really, what do you know?

I could counter those with completely different numbers that weigh in the opposite direction. Doesnt make me right.

Let consider a few, more educated POINTS, numbers aside:

1 - I may be making an incorrect assumption about your statement, but perhaps people are donating even if they dont use/like the software, or even keep the cd. I know the link is on the cd, but that doesnt mean thats the ONLY place it's referenced.

2 - It does sound like he does this quite often. This could definitely indicate that people are responding positively, either through donations, or other means (word of mouth).

and to bring this back on topic:

3 - Maybe he just digs promoting the alternative. In that case, even if your "generous" numbers are true, it doesnt matter. Even one is better than none. This BS about how hopeless(helpless?) everything is in the face of Microsoft defeats the whole point of Firefox/OSS/etc. Its not about numbers, its about having a choice in the first place. That will always exist in computing as well as life in general. Underground music, zines, OSS, etc. These are about the passion for the product.

I dont think that this and the anouncement about the Jan release are coincidental. Maybe they realize what is at stake. I dont use Windows and I certainly dont like M$, but i cant really find any reason why this or any further delays are bad. They may not indicate anything, but i think you really have to wait for the dust to settle before making a judgement, Perhaps we are seeing the dawn of a new era at Microsoft. Maybe one where they understand that Monopoly=Responsibility.
