I will be getting a PS4 within the next two months (looking for the right bundle) and hopefully the PS2 emulation on the PS4 will let me load and play my PS2 games however to me that is a nice and desirable feature but not an overriding factor in my decision to get a PS4.

As for choosing a PS4 or an XBox1 or even both that is a personal choice it really boils down to the type of first party games that you like and if one console plays third party games better then the other, although that is subjective.

Basically if your hard drive has failed and if you are a bit worried about it falling into someones hands if you discard it then the best solution is to destroy the hard disk platter.

It must be noted that it is only the hard disk that retains all your data even though the electronics may have failed or there are too many bad blocks that the disk is flagged as failed.

To destroy the hard disk is fairly simple to do, however it is best to wear eye protection just in case. Just undo the four or five screws on top and remove the cover then take a small hammer or other such hard object and strike the platter, it will shatter since it is glass (hence the reason for eye protection). Next dispose off either by recycling (preferred) or land-fill. Obviously dispose of the electronics and disk shards separately.

For SSD's you can't go wrong with a sledge hammer although that would work for pretty much all storage devices but it does leave a bit of a mess.

Basically no organisation or criminal will even attempt to reconstitute your shattered hard disk since it would just about prove impossible to get data off. :-)

For me to go from Fedora 20 to Fedora 22 would take approx 45 minutes including customization with 20 minutes for additional applications and about an hour for updates. Why? because I don't do upgrades I do a fresh install in my system file-systems keeping in mind that I always document my build so I don't get nasty surprises. You can even change you file-system type (I use ext4) on the fly keeping in mind that if you change your data/user file-systems type then you will have to recover which in my case would take up to 8 hours.

Basically I have never done a Fedora upgrade since I always do a fresh install because that is the fastest way (at least for me) of going from one major release to another. I actually do this for commercial Unix/Linux machines (HPUX, AIX, Solaris and Redhat) when moving from one major release to another and have always finished well within the time allocated.

The latest Fedora's 21 and 22 have actually been incredibly easy and quick to install, taking me about 30 minutes for the installation, 15 minutes for customization, another 15/20 minutes to add addition applications and about an hour to do the updates. It must be noted that after customization the OS is fully functional and you can be doing things even during the update process. Of course it does help that I keep my system file-systems apart from my user file-systems which would take well over 6 hours to recover if I was stupid enough to delete them.

Neither I or my wife have had any issues with Fedora 21 and now Fedora 22 since a day one install.

Personally I would like to see manned space exploration kicked up a notch but lets be practical here, you really do have to take costs into account. No country the US included can afford to keep spending billions of dollars just sending a few people in to space. The closest orbiting body around our planet is our moon and it is very feasible with our current technology to build one or more habitable outposts on it. Sure that does not have the so called "appeal" of sending people to Mars but it is massively cheaper and is a great jumping off point for further manned space exploration.

With Mars any issues can take months before there is any possibility of help and by then we just have allot of dead colonists and I am quite sure the there will be much negative press about that.

At least with our moon living on it is feasible with our current technology and it would be a great jumping off point for future maned space exploration.

Please don't think I am against space exploration, I am definitely all for it but I do think the so called Mars colonization idea stems from reading too many Sci Fi books and not enough science and engineering ones. There is a huge difference between our "Age of Exploration" and Space Exploration since on our planet we have an atmosphere and although many explorers did die they did not die through lack of oxygen or have any reason to take it with them unless they drowned or were killed by hostile natives or animals.
