Anyone who's worked in the entertainment industry knows that the industry themselves violate the copyright laws more than anyone else. But if you think about it, anything and everything we do on the internet, email, heck, anything digital is a "reproduction". After all, when we view a html or a gif or hear a midi, it's a reproduced on our local computers. If these companies had their way, every word we speak would be copyrighted. But yeah, apparentally, even repeating what someone else said is copyright infringement. Or viewing a webpage or even you posting an e-mail sent to you can be considered copyright infringement.
Any quoting of this post without the owner's consent is copyright infringement and will be pursued to the full extent of the law... just kidding:p
If you think about what he's saying, he's really saying he wants everyone else to pay for him to have a better internet connection. If you're on DSL, that means that your speed is limited only by what you download. Since he's complaining about other people taking up speeds, he probably has Cable. And if he has cable, everyone, even before massive P2P, has had the problem that once everyone gets on, the speed slows down dramatically. But he's rich so he can strut his stuff. Which basically comes down to, he wants a faster connection, doesn't feel he should pay for it. Instead of asking his ISP or a larger pipe or buying a larger pipe, he wants everyone to stop using bandwidth that he could be using... He wants us to pay for his internet...
So if you're planning on leaving Microsoft for Google, pack up your belongings and say goodbye to friends ahead of time. There'll be no cake and two weeks of paid slacking for you.
So let me get this straight. The environmental impact of biofuels is that people cut down trees? Isn't that like blaming the car for the drunk driving accident? I'm not an expert, but it seems this articles main complaint is that it'll make food more expensive because of more demand and that plants give off more co2 than petroluem. And somehow... because we don't/haven't the technology to compensate for that, that we should go back to a nonrenewable resource. I agree that conservation is the way to ultimately go. But I also believe that most the population needs some way to transition to something that's more conservative. Some incentive to get out of that Minivan or SUV and get a smaller car. Or to stop driving that hummer by your self and taking up 2 parking spots and take a public transit. (which, almost in all of america, needs to be revamped) Anyways, that's just my 2 cents
So all those Ninja Turtle games I've played as a kid was really subliminial messages to get me to buy pizza? No wonder all those kids are so crazy over yugioh. It's all subliminall messages, I tell ya.
While there's all this hype from the RIAA and MPAA about the illegal *broadcast* of their IP and how if one person plays a song that's not their's in public (under certain circumstances) they can be sued or have to pay royalty to the arist. But if you showed a painting or a drawing to the public (under the same circumstances), you can't sue the person who put it up for display nor do that person have to pay royalty. Artists and painters have had (to this day) to deal with the world "without Intectual Property rights" for ages. Think of why most of the great artists in the past died poor. If they want this standard in america to be fair, make people pay royalty for displaying their art in public and anyone seeing the art have to pay a royalty. Either that or make it so people that replay a musical piece or movie without fear of legal action. Just because one medium (art) was able to be put into solid form before another (music/film), doesn't mean they're subjected to different Intectual Property rights. After all, they are all intellectual property. Either fix the system or break it and start anew.
It's a little known fact that Neo in the latter 2 Matrix wasn't played by Keaneau Reeves, but a tickle-me elmo doll. And the all the ring wraiths in Lord of the Rings was actually played by that little kid from Jerry McGuire.
Electronic Gadgets eh? I can see it now... (insert wavey scene here)
"Sorry sir, you're using a pacemaker. I'm going to have to fine you... Oh! Ma'm! Yes you! You're in an electric wheelchair, you're getting fined too! Hey Bob, I thought you're covering the south end today. My walkie-talkie? Oh, come on Bob, don't give me a fine..." The flood gates are open, let the fining begin...
IMO, if you are at fault of a driving accident due to an ipods and what-naught, that's distracted driving, we already have laws for that. If you get killed while not paying attention to the little red hand while crossing the street, that's natural selection. If you are at the receiving end of a car accident while someone is using an iPod or something similar, they're at fault and deserves to be weeded out of the gene pool (that's after they pay you for all the damage they've caused you, of course.) Anyways, continue the flaming.
Someone go copyright walking! No one will be able to walk in a movie ever again! Everyone in a picture will have to either crawl or run (until someone copyrights that as well)! Make old people run or sue them for copyright infringment! We can take over the world!!!
I'm very newbish on crypto but I feel I have to ask these questions:
1) So now that MD5 is done for, what's next?
2) She said that she had to manually write algorthiums to crack MD5... does that mean she can do it again or with a computer? For that matter, how long does it take her to do it again? If it takes 5 years to crack one password, is it something to worry about?
I'd just like to note that it's not that AT&T bought up it's old subsidiaries again. The Subsidaries bought them up. (Because AT&T!=at&t See? It's not capitialized so it's different.:p Yeah, I work for one of their subsidiaries.)

So I should expect to hear soon, "I rule that this wasn't a case of rape. This was surprise sex."?
Phishers moving to China? I resent that. China doesn't need foreigner phishers, they have their own!!! :p
They have techniques? I thought they just put firewalls up.

This is inhuman! This is what Al Gore warned us about! How much longer until we make the deadly man-bear-pig?!?

How about making RL bullying legal and enforce it before making it illegal on the net? I don't agree with this bill, but doesn't that make more sense?
Well, to my team anyways. (Sitting at Cingular's call centers now)
"So... How do you intend to buy your porn, Mr. Blair? Do you ever pay for prostitues? No? We'll see when the new Biometric ID card comes out..."

I'm not trying to push my opinion, but I do want to speak it. To quote Stan Marsh of South Park, he's right for the wrong reasons.
And here's my daily joke:
Next up, J. K. Rowling's op-ed piece on alchemy why it is possible to turn lead into gold via a wooden wand and simple quantum physics

And according to Disco stu and the charts of disco album sales from the 1960's to the 1970's, disco sales are projected to through the roof in 2007...

Everyone knows that Hong Kong is the piracy of the world. Who would think otherwise?
Nah, if Miss Scarlet did it, it would be with the rope. Some webmaster are into that type of stuff.
I don't mean to make this sound mean but... that's kind of the joke... Get it? He's doing it? We're doing it? Nevermind...

So if someone runs a credit check on you, your credit score gets lowered. When the government does it, does my credit score gets lowered to?
