A very opinionated observation showing that he just doesn't understand the article or the physics behind the observations! There's some elementary physics books I can recommend if you like!
"You need to use non-iTunes methods to get the content off."
No you don't. You can set the Ipod as a flash drive. This will allow you to copy its encoded music folder onto your HD. Then, with the IPOD disconnected, open Itunes and import the encoded music folder. Itunes will add it to your library, unencoding it in the process.
I think that this is a major mistake by EMI, Apple and Microsoft (particularly MS) as it has the possibility of seriously damaging relationships with vendors, manufacturers, RIAA and possible the MPAA, let alone US Government and the lobby group.
So much money and technology has been invested in DRM by major corporations to prevent piracy that this may lead to major problems and ethical considerations as well as corporate trust in MS.
I most certainly hope that MS knows what it is doing and not just a knee jerk reaction!
FYI Current Dell machines that use Sigmatel sound chips have a known problem that India knows but Dell doesn't, namely that the Sigmatel driver is not fully implemented by Dell. There are workarounds by installing 3rd party Sigmatel drivers. I think LG have them as they also use the same chip.
Confusion does rule, however the 'decimal point' position in numeracy can effectively be any mark as long as it denotes the 'point'. In some languages, 3.75 is read as 3-decimal -75, rather than 3 -point-75
Also, there is no separator in many countries, so 100,000,000 is 100 000 000
MS Support and training for Office products is abysmal. They are hard to use as you need to be a programmer to operate their higher functions. Find an secretary who can do that! Interoperability between Office apps is the norm. WordPerfect, Open Office, Star Office all have adequate levels of interoperability within their own suites. Why bother to dump a Visio graphic into OO? Have you ever tried to tag a 500 page Word doc? Has it ever bothered you that you can't cut and paste endnotes and footnotes without losing/altering references? Or for that matter globally adjusting left margins? Manipulating tables? The list is endless. No app is perfect.
The only thing that works reliably sometimes is text format, RTF is not standard, different versions of unicode stuff that up. So currently there is no standard reliable document format.
Here's one: Save a txt file in Linux and open it up in XP Notepad. So much for standardization.!!!!
MS needs to back off a bit and to allow a universal document format. MSWord is a good program with many features. I would use it by choice, but what I don't like is that it's output by default is a non standard proprietary file. That is what worries many people and organizations. If MS is confident about MSWord and has faith in it, then really there should be no problems in a standardized doc format. It is bad policy to force a format onto the world, and forcing other developers (like Open Office) to comply with MS docs. MSWord is not perfect by any means - there are too many bugs in it, but it shows what a good word processor is capable of (not discounting XL), if only it would work well.
I get different MSword docs sent to me - and when I open them, they often never appear as they are intended. The margins are wrong, the page size is wrong, kerning is incorrect, fonts are different, styles don't import properly, units vary (cm/inches/ etc), spaces/tabs stops are awry... the list goes on and on.
So I implore MS to back off and to help develop a consistent doc format that not only works between WP apps, but within different versions of MS office apps as well.
There is so much conjecture and bad information on this topic. Most of the stuff that I've read (278 posts) is absolute rubbish! Misinformed opinions based on old wives's tales, ignorance of hardware and poorly developed understandings of operating systems, marketing, Windows history and conspiracy!
Vista is the next step in the Windows saga. There's nothing else to say about it.
Now 'Icky' sounds to me like if the bugs are squidgy and soft. You'll find that they are dessicated or mummyfied rather than icky. Unless there is a lot of steam and humidity in the bathroom which could make them very icky indeed.
Don't confuse "Freedom" with anarchy. The trouble with the US democratic system and the Bill of Rights - is that personal 'freedom' can be anarchial - The trick here is to educate the population to be socially responsible and to have social justice. But at what level of freedom can you have that? Truly a fine balancing point between democracy and socialism.
G. fascinated me as he spoke of 'objective truth'. The cosmology is incredibly interesting and the 'Weltanshauung' is pervasive across many disciplines. There seems to be a truth behind it, or a human racial memory that I recognize. Again - too much fallacy and commentary has muddied his 'Fragments of an Unknown Science'. Even he disguised what he could in 'Beelzebub's Tales to his Grandson' - one book out of ten I would have if stranded on an island. There is a warning that he wrote about in a preface to Beelzebub's Tales (Vol 1). If you ever read it, then I too ate a whole bag of hot peppers!
And slightly off-topic, here is the only meaningful excerpt from Monty Python's Meaning of Life. It occurs about half-way through the film, just before the Crimson Permanent Assurance attacks corporate USA.

[A lettering artist is just finishing painting the words
'Liver Donors Inc' onto a wall plaque enumerating all the
subsidiaries of the Very Big Corporation of America.]
Chairman: [of the Very Big Corporation of America]... which brings
us once again to the urgent realisation of just how much there
is still left to own. Item 6 on the Agenda, the Meaning of
Life... Now Harry, you've had some thoughts on this...
Harry: That's right, yeah. I've had a team working on this over the
past few weeks, and what we've come up with can be reduced to
two fundamental concepts... One... people are not wearing
enough hats. Two... matter is energy; in the Universe there
are many energy fields which we cannot normally perceive. Some
energies have a spiritual source which act upon a person's
soul. However, this soul does not exist *ab inito*, as
orthodox Christianity teaches; it has to be brought into
existence by a process of guided self-observation. However,
this is rarely achieved owing to man's unique ability to be
distracted from spiritual matters by everyday trivia.
[Pause.]
Max: What was that about hats again?
Harry: Er... people aren't wearing enough.
Chairman: Is this true?
Edmund: [who is sitting next to Harry] Certainly. Hat sales have
increased, but not *pari passu... as our research -
Bert: When you say 'enough', enough for what purpose...?
Gunther: Can I ask with reference to your second point, when you
say souls don't develop because people become distracted...
has anyone noticed that building there before?
[They all turn towards the window to see a building
approaching or sliding into position outside.]
Trivial you may say, but it is probably the clearest explanation of one central 'reality' of the human condition as expressed by Ouspensky and G. You should also look a classical Sufism and Daoism (Taoism), Zoaroster (Hierarchy of Angels) etc
However, let's not forget Western Philosophy. It is a very sound discipline! I agree that the world is no illusio
Well said. Even better is R.D. Laing's (existential philosophy/psychology) comment that has stayed with me for many years (excuse the paraphrase) 'You can experience your own experiences, but you can never experience what other's experience'. That too applies, as I can never 'be' you, thus cannot experience the same, subjective experience; even if we both witnessed the same event, our experiences are qualitatively different. What can be said to be true, is that we were present in form as the event was occurring.
This is too complicated for comparative ideology and there is a mass of reading to be shared on these issues, many from alternate, non-disciplinary based sources.
Everything I've read in response to your initial post clarifies the problem of objectivity. To simplify- Just because Smith believes something to be true, even by 'real evidence' (Jones's 10 coins), can mean that:
1. It really is false - Jones WILL be employed 2. It is true - Smith will be employed 3. It doesn't matter who gets employed as both have met the same condition for employment.
That is a sub-set, independently existing without regard to the real knowledge of the criteria or the objective truth. To say that Smith has objective truth is thus wrong, even though he (and we as witness) knows it is 'justified knowledge'.
Don't read too much into Gettier, as it was only a tool to try and circumvent 'faith'.
This restates the problem in a simpler form:
Whiteox: "I know there is a God. I have proof! I have justifiable knowledge that God exists" MDSolar; "That's nice. I'm happy for you."
So when God opens up the heavens and makes them both realise that God exists (without faith) - then objective truth be known.
Does that mean that men who drive compacts have big penises?
Submitter doesn't know his stuff!
A very opinionated observation showing that he just doesn't understand the article or the physics behind the observations!

OH PLEASE could you start by deforesting Japan?
They really deserve to be un-treed. Mind you, I don't mind banzai, just get rid of the bigger ones!
Thanks in gratitude!
