  1. +++'bout SCUMM on Point And Click Adventure Teaches First Aid · · Score: 1

Being very fond of those old Lucas Art games, i though giving away a few links about the SCUMM VM may be interresting for other /.ers.

    - The SCUMM VM (already on /. here (Linux SCUMM Interpreter), and here (Lucas Confuses ScummVM With Abandonware).
    - The SCUMM Bar, sadly down untill mid-july (but not closed!), is a reference on the genre, with nice interviews with the original developpers of the first games.
    - The International House of Mojo
    - WWHS
    - The Big Whoop Fairground (Monkey Island)
    - The Legend of Mokey Island

Well from there you can find tons of links to fan sites...

Actually Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders was my first introduction to the genre when i was around 13, on a now old C64. This game was really crazy and got me so addicted that it was a reason for my parents to buy me a english/french dictionnary. There's a few projects from fans for a follow-up:
    - Zak McKracken
    - Zak McKracken and the Alien Rockstar
    - Zak McKracken Between Time and Space

Finally some of you may also want to have a look to the news groups alt.games.lucas-art.*

    have fun!

Gamedev.net -- good ressources for game developers and lists current projects... some good free games.
Download Net -- a great source for freeware and classic pc games (mostly windows)
MegaGames -- A good freeware section here.
RareWare -- This site is dedicated to all kind of games that have two things in common: they are small in size (max. 10mb) and are great to play.

    Hi FM6,

with "download artgem 1.2" you'll find three mirrors:

This is not what we want since we can see on RLVision News Page that the last version is 1.3 dating back to 2002-06-25 (you're right no valid results on google for that version)... BUT it gives us a good deal of info on which filename we're looking for... let's have a look at FileSearching.com for rlv_ag13.exe...

And Voila! you got the last version.

More infos on searching techniques may be found at Fravia's SearchLores Website and some tools on a friend's web page.

    I hope this helps.

When i switched from the Amiga to the PC, I really missed Deluxe Paint, I finally found a version for DOS. If you liked it too, there's a similar win32 version called ArtGem. Though it is discontinued and not available for download on RLVision website, googling around you can find mirrors for version 1.3.

    From the developer:
"ArtGem is a fast and powerful allround image editor, similar to classic DPaint but with the quality of Photoshop. Use ArtGem to scan, resize, merge & retouch your photos, create graphics for your website or to draw icons, sprites and textures for game & multimedia productions. View pictures and convert between different formats. Includes hundreds of high quality imaging tools. Supports JPEG, GIF, PNG, TIFF, BMP & 15 other image formats. Work with filters, selections, gradients & layers in the dynamic realtime interface.

Actually I manage to work around 6 month a year, and get 6 month unemployed since 4 years. It's good to stay home, have a beer with friends, read a book, visits some places, etc... For me, unemployment is synonym of good time. And since i work on contract I'm getting unemployment funds while not working. Even have a t-shirt "Work to Live, Don't Live to Work". (The true story is also that I got fired once ;-))

Best of all, each time you change jobs, you're facing new problems and it's really challenging sometimes.
