For employees, have a piece of paper, a "User code of conduct" if you will that says porn = bad, company resources for personal use/gain = bad, and that everything that happens on a computer assigned to a person, or on a user name/password assigned to a person are the responsibility of that person.
Leave your computer logged in and someone else does naughty things? Still your fault, its your user name/password.
As for eulas and other auto clicks, they should limit the power and scope of eulas. You shouldn't be able to auto click spyware/adware, but you should be able to auto-click "if you install this and it borks your system, don't sue us!" and "this software is mine, i'm letting you use it for free/price, please don't steal it or my work". Since you *should* agree to this. Its sort of like picking up a book, if i pick up harry potter and decide to fly with a broom (and break bones), i can't sue j.k. rowling. Also, if i get harry potter, change names, and attempt to republish under my own name, she (or her US agent) can take civil actions. However, if i pickup the book and contract smallpox, then that's not something "usually" agreed to when picking up a book.
and saw...
"Its all coming back to me" as he wizzes into the wind.
Yes, software has vulnerabilities, some create vulnerabilities, but most of the time you voluntarily and knowingly install this software onto your system, or it rides along with software that you downloaded because you didn't feel like buying an equivalent piece of software in the store.
Norton anti-virus also picks up some of these ride-along software now. When i buy a piece of software from a store from a reputedly good software maker, i do so with the understanding that the piece of software i install is listed on the front of the box.
Sony's problem is that they pulled some bs that you would expect from some seedy company hoking your privacy for an mp3 encoder or something. If i buy quicktime full version, i expect to only have quicktime and only quicktime install on my system. If i play a music cd, i expect there to be music and only music on that cd.
Sony did wrong, while they may not be legally punished for it, they violated the unwritten contracts between paying customers and software companies. (Yes, when you buy a sony bmg music cd, you're buying a piece of software that plays music, you can pop a mechwarrior 3 cd into a cd player and listen to the in game soundtrack, so software can have music tracks too). This unwritten agreement is that if i pay for your software, you'll keep your protection schemes from messing with my computer and it will only kick in when i use your program. If you fire up a game with safedisk vX on it, the cd copy protection only kicks in at that time, not before, and not after you close the game. If you fire up photoshop cs2, the keyvalidation happens once during install and it only checks that your key remains valid according to the hardware specs of your system. The only memory resident program is a gamma loader which doesn't break anything if you shut it down/keep it off.
Yes sony screwed up, yes they should be rebuked, and yes, this is the predictable responce to the RIAA's more and more vigilante style tactics.
Some day i can see them riding into town and tarring and feathering people who fileshare.

According to my e-mail inbox, i don't need to print a new one, all i need to do is just go to thier website and use a cream or pills or something and i can enlarge my organ to beyond "be1 eef" or something...
1 test XP bed, 1 windows 98 computer test bed, 1 windows 98se laptop, 1 XP laptop, and my main box.
The test beds are only used for consulting, the 98se laptop is for working out on the porch and various wireless funtime tasks, the xp laptop is a guest computer and used for travel, and my mainbox is where i spend the bulk of my time.
Each has its purpose, but they're not all brand spankin new or top of the line, the 2 tests beds were resurrected from parts i had in my closet from previous computers that were once my main box.
"It is speculated that these numbers are a direct result of the popularity gained through the iPod "
So, if i own an ipod, but have 5 windows computers, does that mean i "Switched" to ipod?
What if i own an imac mini (good to have, small, cute, good for a den computer when i want to check news/status of the intarweb), but still have 5 other windows computers and only use the mini for half an hour max every day. Does that mean i switch?
What about grandma who never had a computer, ever, and her kids decide that a mac would be the best solution for an elderly computer user, did she "switch"?
It looks to me like They're joining an initiative for opensource objects that offer a bit of open source but allow the real meat of thier offerings to be pay?
So, adobe has been doing this for as long as i can remember with thier pdf reader, why didn't business objects join adobe:)
Call of Duty 2 Demo: Infinity Ward has dropped the Quake engine in favor of their own new DX9 code. We recorded our own custom timedemo and ran through it with all the visual quality settings cranked up. We look forward to benchmarking the full game when it is released.
Oh boy oh boy! i can't wait until cod2 comes out...
Wait, i've been playing it for like 2 weeks now.
Nothing to see here! Move along people!

it works with media player classic for playing real streams. I haven't fired it up on my new hard drive yet, but it worked (hid the buffering message, but i suspect it may have been at 33%)

You suppose that the french bloggers will have to download and use the french blog with tips on how to get the word out through an oppressive regime?
It was released just in time! Any later and they would have had to delay it due to them working out issues in free speech.

I for one welcome our new ineffectual internet overlords.
