As the late Steve Irwin would say: "CRIKEY!".
You're right, I should've known that venomous EULA would turn right back and bite me (and all Microsoft customers) in the rear.

    "Satisfaction Guaranteed!"*

    * The term "Satisfaction" and "Guaranteed" are used only for illustration purpouses in a figurative, subliminal manner.
Enlarged to show texture. Serving suggestion.
As a matter of fact, no satisfaction guaranteed whatsoever, by any means.
Reading the words "satisfaction" and "guaranteed" above certifies you accept this disclaimer, its terminology, grammar and syntax errors as the single source of truth given to us by the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
By the way, why are you reading down here? Our legal department wants to know who reads this stuff (and sue them).
Don't bother to ask "Who is it?" the next time someone knocks at your door, it's them.

Well, I would think the liability of messing up data on any number of companies and households should be enough to trigger a prompt reaction from Microsoft.

I would assume they are working on fixing it right away, with the PR team working on a statement for damage control.

  3. Re:Other dropouts... on Dell Reflects on 25 Years of PCs · · Score: 1

I remember reading some years ago on the NY Times (link lost on the tides of time) about a guy that used to work on a parking lot, had a debt 5X his yearly earnings, et cetera... Then he won the lottery! - So far, so good.

He started living like you would expect after winning XX million dollars (after taxes, of course).
Huge Mansion, expensive cars, female companion... but he also tried to invest his money (again, as expected).
But our guy hadn't had any previous experience doing business, so, suppliers ripped him off, his "business counselors" and "associates" ripped him off, his family ripped him off, and so on and so on.

As you explain, his life was miserable and ended up losing everything in 5 years, if I remember correctly.

The moral of the story is: In business, who and what you know it is just as important as the capital.
Either way, be ready for a crash; as even people with an excellent network of contacts, great know-how and the right amount of cash has failed miserably (or struck gold, but you'll never know if you don't try).

Quick! If they haven't already, let's file a patent: "Obnoxious technique to fragment short articles to improve advertising hits".
It would match perfectly the other pending patent I have: "Method. to. create. slogans. for. advertising. campaigns. with. periods."

    Truly original!

3.- When it is revealed you've been playing with a girly, DiCaprio-impersonator instead of the "real" Snake on MGS2. Oh, wait... those weren't tears, it was pure anger.

Agree. I would find far more feasible a wing design were a membrane connects all limbs, the body and the tail, just like a comet.
It would match the upright flight attitude mentioned on TFA, although it wouldn't be what we could call a smooth glide.

However, neither configuration would be as efficient as the wings of a bat, which probably lead to their extintion or evolution into a different design anyway.

Agree. There can't be many parents out there willing to buy their kids a "toy" that starts at $500, which had also a lot of bad publicity aimed at them.

I thought the PS2 was expensive at the time of launch, but this time they seem to be aiming to maintain those high prices as long as possible.

I sincerely doubt the PS3 will be the turn-around product Wall Street would like from Sony in the near future.

  11. Re:It just won't be the same! on Homer Becomes Omar · · Score: 1

In Mexico we used to have some of the finest voice-over actors doing the dubbing for The Simpsons. They got celebrity-treatment, specially Humberto "Homero" Velez.
(A quick note, only Homer was translated to "Homero J. Simpson" the other characters kept their original names)

That guy is really funny, I saw him on a comic con re-enacting the casting process: "I was really nervous and when I entered the dubbing room I saw a gringo sitting on a chair facing the opposite wall; I was told to start reading my lines. I wasn't half-way through when suddenly he turned and yelled: 'Stop! This is the fucking one! That's Homer!'". According to him, the "gringo" was Matt Groening himself.

For this season, after 15 years, they got sacked for asking a raise and The Simpsons got new voices, there were people marching on the streets in protest but the dubbing company said their decision was final.

Anyway, I sincerely hope that never happens to the original cast in the US!

I think you might have a hard time trying to convince some people this is a good thing.
With a warmer weather hurricanes will be even more powerful, same thing for floodings and tornadoes.

We may or may not be entirely accountable for global warming but trying to maintain our way of life (should I say 'civilization'?) seems to be a valid reason to do our best to diminish our (big or small) effect on global warming.
