Of course they're computers. Whether or not you can use them easily in a general purpose manner is another issue entirely. EG, my Linksys WRT54GL is a computer and can easily be used as a general purpose device by uploading 3rd party firmware such as OpenWRT. So can my Dreamcast. On the other hand, I can't do the same with my XBox 360 (at least until someone figures out how to run unsigned code). But they're all computers nonetheless.
Indeed. It would also be nice if the next silicon valley was more eco-friendly, although I'm not sure if that would be entirely possible:
"While typically lauded as the engine of the high-tech global economy and a generator of wealth for millions, Silicon Valley is also home to some of the most toxic industries in the nation, and perhaps the world. Next to the nuclear industry, the production of electronics and computer components contaminates the air, land, water, and human bodies with a nearly unrivaled intensity.
"The Valley is also a site of extreme social inequality. It is home to more millionaires per capita than anywhere else in the United States, yet the area has also experienced some of the greatest declines in wages for working-class residents of any city in the nation. Homes are bought and sold for millions of dollars each day, yet thousands of fully employed residents live in homeless shelters in San Jose, the self-proclaimed 'Capital of Silicon Valley.' Silicon Valley also leads the nation in the numbers of temporary workers per capita and in workforce gender inequities. Moreover, the region has an entirely non-unionized workforce and is as racially segregated as the most big urban centers."
...as they do with any new energy source. Wind turbines kill birds and look ugly. Dams flood areas. With fusion, they new complaint will be: "It still uses radioactive particles."
I never really understood the term "fight fire with fire." A more effective way to fight fire is with water or foam. So perhaps a better idea would have been not to spam the spammers.
Complaining is a way to show disappointment at something considered subpar. If no one complained, then you might assume that everything is fine and dandy, but that just isn't the case.
Never count them out. They've such a huge time lead and enormous resources, they'll eventually get it. And I think XBox 360 is when they do finally get.
He is doing something by complaining and lobbying. Nothing will happen if no one speaks up. Besides, not everyone has the skills to write accessibility plug-ins as you would seem to suggest.
A Wii?
Actually it's priced higher than some computers. Currently I can get a low-end Dell with LCD monitor for $600.

That's collusion, and it's illegal.
Kind of like how if the doctor puts both hands on your shoulders when doing a digital rectal exam...
As it stands, there is no real impetus to use ipv6. Hopefully we'll run out of addresses soon and then maybe we'll all switch.
Imagine a beowulf... oh never mind.
Exactly. I'd rather have a console that has a 3-core cpu, 512 MiB memory, 20 GiB hardrive, and etherner ports. Oh wait...
This is slashdot. You think the poster RTFA???
Apparently there was a movie named after him that contained lots of nudity. I wonder what it was called...
oops, that quote was from here
You have to raise the price of housing...
Well, they did but not in any particular quantity, and pretty much only in the beginning to launch the Athlon off the ground. So what was the problem?

Me fail English? That's unpossible!
By then my collection will have surpassed this capacity...

Any links? Perhaps my googling skills aren't up to par, but I've not been able to confirm any of those figures
For example, they can't vote
GE is not Enron. Wal-mart is not Enron. Perhaps the closest would be Worldcom or Duke energy.

DVTs occur anytime you're mostly immobile for a long period of time. This is especially true for people on long intercontinental flights.
