Good for you. I've been using for about as long as well but haven't had the pleasure of a virus, even during the dos days when the viruses sometimes destroyed hardware rather than keylogging and obtaining your social security number. But that doesn't mean other people haven't or will not obtain viruses and other malware. Exploits abound in every operating environment be it from the operating system or applications, and it's your job to patch those up when they happen.
In the computing world, there are clueless people, slightly more knowledgeable people, and the computer geeks. For the Mac crowd, I would gather the clueless and the computer geeks aren't smug since the clueless don't know what's out there and the geeks know that nothing is 100% secure. That leaves the slightly more knowledgeable people since their argument is that there hasn't been a virus reported since mac os x came out.
So a flaw is discovered and if the user doesn't get the patch/workaround he'll potentially get infected. How does this differ from flaws in os x or other unixes?
You can underclock the video card to get some energy savings. I have an FX5200 that I underclock to 50Mhz GPU/ 170MHz memory. Any less and my monitor will get a bad signal.
To be fair, hospitals actually get much less than they charge for due to negotiations with insurance companies and the fact that medicare pays a set amount no matter what the hospital or doctor charges.
Being in the medical field, I can't help but wonder about the discrepancy between people wanting lower health care costs and their expectations for modern health care to perform miracles. They seem to me to be mutually exclusive. While innovative technologies such as the one described in the article are fascinating, it will surely drive up NICU costs even more if it is adopted. Of course ICUs in general are money sinks anyway.
Maybe the discoverers of Sonic Hedgehog didn't get sued because they were awarded the Nobel prize. Perhaps Sega felt that association with the Nobel prize was worth not suing.
(1) ID violates the centuries-old ground rules of science by invoking and permitting supernatural causation; (2) the argument of irreducible complexity, central to ID, employs the same flawed and illogical contrived dualism that doomed creation science in the 1980's; and (3) ID's negative attacks on evolution have been refuted by the scientific community.
Is the media confusing the difference between crackers and hackers again? Or is my understanding of the definitions out of date? (ie hackers = good, crackers = evil hackers)
except that a supercharger increases gasoline use whereas the gizmo that the article talks about uses another steam engine to increase performance without added gasoline usage.
What the hell are you talking about? There are plenty of commercial games out for Linux: Doom 1-3, Quake 1-4, Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2003-4, Serious Sam... Well here's a more extensive list
No, my point is this: don't get an XBox 360 now. However, if you so choose to attempt to get one now, prepare for all the crap that comes with it including:
No, but it is rather misleading. On the other hand, I doubt most prospective buyers would believe what he said either.
Now that's not quite fair. You might as well say that the K8 architecture is nothing more than a K7 with HT and on-die memory controller.

Well, it is interesting to see what fantasies people can come up with

are you able to download files to the host machine with that? the description doesn't give much info

That doesn't work because the person paying for the drink is still spending the same amount of money anyway. So short glasses for all!
Looks like I posted too fast. There's a speed comparison somewhere around there...
Is it just me or is that site really difficult to navigate amongst all those ads? Speed of compression would have been nice too.

Except that RHAT's P/E ratio is 96. That's kind of high. For my money, I'd rather invest in IBM.
Since the user has to click on a link, I assume the browser type matters?
He could have. But then again, you could also be just a figment of my imagination.

As a proponent of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, we in the ID community must stand up to this nonsense.

the same could be said for a regular gas/electric hybrid...

They did lose billions...in yen. You can't always assume that everything is calculated in dollars.
