It's not mentioned by the Author, so I might be assuming too much but if he's trying to write to USB Drives as opposed to a RAID of some sort I figured he wanted to be able to read the drives individually, prehaps on a different machine without a network connection between them.
The drobo won't allow that, the file system is spread across all the drives.
I guess it kind of depends on what the author needs to do with the drives when he's finished writing to them.
The contract that those authors SIGNED with Amazon
Exactly, I think the standard response for all these complaints would be along the lines of we aren't lending the books we are just providing a list of books which people have available for lending. Amazon is lending the books, in accordance with a contract you signed with them, and provide some Amazon contact details.
That doesn't seem like a very hard job to respond to a lot messages with a template response message. You just need to accurately categorise the incoming message to start with.
The concept of working hard can be lost. After all, the government will take care of me. And taxes can get a little stifling. That's why tax reductions often provide a boost to the economy.
In a world of increasing automation, there are never going to be enough jobs for the working age population. Eventually you are going to have to go to a system of social care provided by some central organisation.
Those people without jobs are not just going to lay down and starve to death while a tiny fraction of those who control the machines consume all the resources. The only way a government has to do that is with taxes.
In both of those cases, MS was trying to buy it's way into an existing market where people have to be annoyed with what's already there to even begin to think about changing brand.
Apple tend to be the first to market with viable (thats important) product niches which create a market and are good enough to earn loyalty early on.
As far as reason for not liking Win8 goes, making your entire business model at best second fiddle to the MS store and at worst obsolete is a pretty good reason.
given that the emails were obtained from a file held in a Dropbox employee's account I'm not sure why they are talking about it in the context of this break-in.
The employee used the same password for his work/dropbox account and some other website. That other website got hacked and the attackers got his password from that other site.
When the hackers tried his credentials on the dropbox site, they found his dropbox account used the same password and were able to access all the files he was storing which contained a list of names and email addresses.
They are mentioning using different passwords for different sites not because they are worried about your password but because it was how dropbox themselves got attacked.
just like gun control will make everyone safer because those new laws and rules will always be faithfully followed by the criminals who ignore them now or ignored them in the past.
I feel sorry for Americans, to live every day in such fear of your neighbours.

I used to use it a lot for business and occasionally for personal use at home and I was always happy with.
When I upgraded to a new computer at home I never bothered reinstalling it and I moved jobs which doesn't make such heavy use of Skype so I hadn't touched it in a long time.
Recently I had a need to use it again while talking my mum though some procedures on her new phone so I installed it again. It crashed when I first try to install, but succeeded the second time without any problems. The application hung mid call twice on a 30 minute conversation and had to be killed and restarted to resume the conversation.
I remember wondering at the time about what had happened to Skype, it used to be rock solid and useful but based on that 30 minutes of frustration I left it installed but turned off the "start application at windows startup" option which means effectively it will never be used.
You know trickle down had some merit in a world before a telecommunications revolution and easy shipping
The solution to that is pretty easy, corporations have globalized supply but managed to keep demand stricted by local markets.
Remove barriers to import so that I can buy what ever I want from who ever I want anywhere in the world without running foul of parallel import laws and grey markets.
In America, at least, 99.9% of the people who own an Android phone or iPhone own at least one desktop PC, laptop, or both IN ADDITION to their phone.
But everyone, including Microsoft are betting heavily that the desktop and laptop sales are going to drop off a cliff top soon.
That's what Metro is about, it's a mobile interface for a world where all the consumer devices sold are going to be mobile in one form factor or another, with varying degrees of access to traditional input devices such as keyboards and mouse, used primarily to consume digital content and manage communication.
That's nothing a good old big bag of money can't fix. I'm sure either company can be convinced to produce a decent closed-source driver that way.
Especially since you can play them off against each other, only one of them is going to end up selling cards for use in a Steam Box (no way of knowing how many box that might be globally), and for people who want to build their own linux systems which might run the steam software, they are more likely to choose the manufacturer used in the steam box because they know it will work.
We don't do the cheap, labor intensive stuff, but we do a lot of manufacturing.
A brilliant strategy which has no obvious downsides.... except for reduced levels of employment which you are going to need to support through a benefits system or risk increasing social instability and crime.
No, you're clearly the one who is a massive fucking retard because he meant that the QUOTE had validity, not the strategy. Also, you're an asshole.
I read the GP as saying that the story had validity given he's provided 3 links as sources. Maybe hold off on the fucking retard comments until you are sure you aren't yourself a fucking retard?

Just what I was about to say

Technically, only 80% of Facebook users who click the ad, not 80% of all Facebook users.
Although I still think that's a very high percentage of technically literate users clicking an ad.
I was going to say that those side roads probably can't be parked in either but then
You've got my vote
Admittedly I tend to only read the tech related news sites but they all picked up on the same thing....
Windows 8 on a desktop just doesn't make any sense.

Jesus you format your answers poorly, I've given up reading everyone of your posts.
Hey, I live in the UK you insensitive clod.
This is really simple to do from a technical point so what's the merit?
very quick visual recognition of 3d objects via has no merit?
Indeed, It's named after a name who died to slightly delay a superior enemy force. Seems quite appropriate to me.
Weigh them against a duck?
You would think that might give the law makers something to think about wouldn't you.
Maybe thats the point, trying to give cinema's an advantage?
