    really, gtkpod doesnt work with new ipods? thats news to me. I suppose I should tell my ipod that. Libgtkpod works perfectly thru amarok. the only ipod that don't work right now is the Ipod touch. New fat nanos and the classics work just fine. Update your gtkpod stuff.

    I pirate, and its not because I hate the riaa, its because I'm cheap and can't afford to buy all the music I like.

    Ipod's only give that info if you sync them with itunes. If you use Amarok or Rhythmbox or GTKPod, you won't send any info in.

    actually, as long as your foot's on the gas, your battery being completely dead doesnt matter. the alternator will keep the car moving. granted, an EMP would probably take out the alt too, that doesnt matter. in a NORMAL world, as long as the battery is connected (charged, or dead, matters not), your car will continue to run until you take the foot off the gas. problem is, once the foot leaves the gas, you're screwed

    Don't get me wrong, I like Mandrake too, but you must have some weird hardware for sound. Wireless I have no idea, but sound.. sound's always worked on linux for me. Hell, SLACKWARE had working sound by default too.

    OT side Note:
    The only problem I have with linux right now is how videos work on it. I've got TV shows that worked perfectly on windows, that are skippy on linux. I've sort of got it fixed right now by changing the sound output to SDL.

    Yes, you can run some of your windows software under Ubuntu. I've installed Internet Explorer under Ubuntu before. Its called WINE or Crossover Office or Cedega. Google Them.

    No, but you can't reproduce them to be exactly the same every time. You can press the CD from the master and its the same CD as in 1989, but if you reprint a rookie card its not the same card as in 1989. Same with a 'fine wine' & paintings. CDs are 'digital'; Baseball Cards, Fine Wine, and Paintings are not.

    Actually, its Debbie Does Dallas... Again . its a remake shot in HD. It does have the old one with it, but the new one is whats being hyped.

    Just thought I'd clear that up.

    I doubt that. I download 30GB+ a week and so far, no throttling.. a couple stalls, but those were from badly seeded torrents or incorrect passkeys. In fact, I noticed that their 'powerboost' thing kicks in for torrents too. I've hit 1.6MB/s (yes, megabytes [MB/s] not megabits [Mbps]) sustained for over 5 minutes.

    Alot of people who work at hardware companies browse slashdot. They might see this, talk to their boss (and their bosses boss, and so on), and bam, one more driver. It's just getting them more exposure. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the ones offering this service, are more organized than just the standard 'linux dev' community.

    Oddly enough, I do the same thing. I have a laptop running wireless down in the bathroom, vnc set up on the windows box, and ssh with forwarding set up on the linux box. wierd? yes, but I can watch movies while taking a dump.
