...such news is music to my ears. I think it was wise for Apple to get involved with digital music players and online music sales. Next year ought to be quite interesting. --
I had completely forgotten about that game. Years ago a few buddies from some local BBSs and I would play Bolo late into the night. Great game, and very addictive. Thanks for the link. I'm glad to see it's still around.
Heh. At my high school Drug Cartel was the game of choice.
Great, as long as it doesn't eat up minutes...

The Wireless Arcade
·
· Score: 4, Informative
The particular Sprint phone I have doesn't have any games preloaded on it - you must use their wireless web to access games. Problem is, it's billed as a call the entire time you play. Not very fun.
I've never tried this, but have always wondered; how about changing the address on the postage-paid envelopes for your own personal use? Are the envelopes marked (via barcode, etc) to disallow this?

Space Diving

There was an article on here awhile back about a lady, Cheryl Stearns, who is planning on skydiving from over 31 miles up (165,000 ft). She'd reach upto 1.5 Mach coming back to earth.
My babysitter actually *did* have a whole extra eye in the back of her head. Talk about freaky!

How about donating to a charity that provides Ethiopians with radios, computers, etc? I've seen a few organizations that take perfectly fine 'obsolete' equipment over to such areas, though unfortunately I don't have the foggiest idea of any of org's names.
> I think we are blindly walking into a disaster,

I agree with you that we should deal with problems before they have a major, negative, wide-spread impact... but Y2K wasn't much of a disaster, though, but more of a mega-hype-turned-fizzle (thankfully). Perhaps we just got lucky.
$99 would be a good price-point - it's affordable and has a great value (imho, at least). While yes, you can get an emulator for a computer, it's just not the same as playing in front of a TV.

I'm curious - if you click the button does it take you to MSN.com? If not, what does it do?
It's cheaper to do everything at the same time when you have all the
resources in place (actors, settings, film crew, etc). In addition, the cost of resources rise over the course of time - kinda like how gas has been in the past few years. ---
What first - read the books or watch the movie?

Lord of the Terabytes

· Score: 1
The Lord of The Rings series has been on my reading queue for awhile now, but I have yet to get around to it (as with a couple dozen other items on the list), and I fear it's going to be quite some time before I can complete them.
If there is a book / series that you've been wanting to read and the movie comes out, what should you do first? Read the book or see the movie? I can't help but think a movie would taint the reading experience by implanting the film's images into the mind (and the fictional world created in the mind from one's personal experience of reading is always better than a movie's attempt at putting pages onto a screen. Well, imo, anyway). ---
A friend of mine runs a small web site that sells stickers. Here's a few:
- Fat People Are Harder To Kidnap
- I Love Beer
- I Love Geeks
- Drink Coffee - Do Stupid Things Faster And With More Energy!
Here's some more. And don't forget the one in my sig.

From Fire's sourceforge.net page that you linked to:
Currently Fire handles AOL Instant Messenger, ICQ, MSN Messenger, Jabber, limited IRC, and Yahoo! Pager communications.
I assume you were using 'IRC' to sum all those messaging services into one.

I'm sure the schools that purchased them do!
- no continual film costs (ie, buying a roll of film for each student each class)
- no photo development costs (unless they choose to do so)
- encourages more picture taking (typically holds many more pictures than a roll of film, and a picture can be deleted to free up space)
The camera would have to be fairly rugged for grade/middle/high school students. This reminds me of the article posted just a few days ago:
Video Games in Gym Class - DDR 101?
I think that is a more pratical application of technology being introduced in schools.
Seems kinda silly if we already know what the answer is. Hmm... double checking, perhaps?
Dang, I wish I would have known about that site a couple months ago. It sucks when you come across something good when the end is near.

Discovery also has an article covering this topic as well. Not much different than the other two links already provided, however.
