The only browser I've used that passed the acid2 test was Safari 2.02 (And Shiira but its built from the same foundation.) Opera did second best though.
There were PowerBooks before Apple used the PowerPC processor (The first ones used 68k processors). There is no reason why they wouldn't continue using the name, and many reasons why they should.
PowerBooks only got the PowerPC by the powerbook 500. Before that, for ~3 years, Apple used the 68k in the powerbooks.:D
What's rather ironic is the iMacs and iBooks have always had PowerPC processors.
No, it has nothing to do with McDonalds or at least it's no their fault. People choose to buy and eat that food. If that choice makes them sick, it is their fault. And are these Indians being forced to do this testing? No, and if they are it is wrong. It's certainly better than them starving, and they are choosing to do the testing. And it is ok to test heartburn medication on them if they choose to do so and there are no fraudulent claims about side affects. Now, I'm saying all this assuming that the drugs have already had animal testing and there is very little chance of them being lethal. I have entirely differnet views about pollution though. I believe if you pollute other peoples property (Air would be this) then you should pay for it (Air pollution would be payed as taxes...which hopefully wouldn't be wasted on pursuing "evil corporations" by taking their money [Oil companies] or preventing testing like this. )
Well, that's true, but he made a statement that he suggested someone argue with although he probably had no intention of answering. As for the sarcasm, I agree, but the response was just as bad if not worse. What irritated me was that the response was irrelevant. The Patriot Act has nothing to do with proving that global warming is affected by humans. He had no better response, so he starting ranting about things he did have an opinion on.
As much as I dislike most Microsoft products, I have no problem with the company or Bill Gates.
Bill Gates amassed a fortune through ruthless and merciless and eventually illegal practices.
Ruthless and merciless practices? In competition with other companies? That's what he should be doing. He should be doing his best to (legally) make Microsoft Windows the standard and to make Mac OS and Linux unimportant niche products. As for illegal practices, which of those have made Gates rich? Being a monopoly? It became a monopoly through competition, not extortion. And if people truly felt that Microsoft was too powerful, then they would use other products. But, in general, they don't care. And comparing Bill Gates to the mafia? He's never used violent practices to gain power. No one has died because of him. People have given him his money by buying Microsoft products.
Well actually, there sort of are. There are specific builds of firefox OS X available that are optimized for g4 or g5 processors. I don't believe they are created by mozilla though.
Why should the governemtn provide so many social services to the poor at the expense of others? The rich have earned (by this I mean aquired legally) their money. It is theirs. I certainly think they should pay taxes towards the military and law enforcement, because it protects them. But why should they be forced to give their money to other people? It is theirs . If you work hard and get an education and good job you will be able to get by with your income. Why should you then be forced to pay for someone who made stupid decisions? I guess since you were entitled to a lot of money due to your family, you feel it is unfair for you, or any other wealthy person, to have as much money as you do. As for reducing military spending, I haven't done any real research on it, and there are probably areas we can reduce spending, the US needs a strong military. I also believe you should be able to opt out of social security. It's your money. You should be able to invest/save/waste, it as much as you want. Universal health care? Why shouldn't you be expected to pay for it yourself? Someone has to.
I don't understand why you would want to have all of those articles in your inbox. My RSS reader, NetNewsWire, does have a similar interface to my email application, Mail, but it's sufficiently different that I wouldn't want one of them to perform the duty of the other.
This isn't fraud unless it specifically says on the disk that it is 44.1Kbs uncompressed audio (I guess the CD symbol might entail this [although I doubt it] so then it would be fraud.
Also, in response to
People buy CDs to get the best 44.1Kbs uncompressed audio usually available for purchase
No, they don't. People buy CDs to listen to music.
I've tried linux and I use XP a lot and although I could probably do more on Linux (command line, etc I'm not comfortable with doing this on XP) the interface is even worse than windows. If someone came out with a Linux distro focused on a nice (aesthecially and functionally) interface it might be more interesting to me. It would essencially be open source, x86, Mac OS X. I have no problem with needing to know how to use the command line but it's preferable not to have to use it normally. The Linux distro I tried was Ubuntu. The GUI was horrid and unintuitive.

Apple's desktops aren't. i.e. quad core G5 w/ 16 gigs of ram running 2x30inch Apple Cinema Displays. That's hardly comparable to a middle range PC. I'll admit the price isn't comparable either though.
So your problem is Pages is too slow? I've certainly not seen that and my processor isn't any/much faster than yours (iMac G4 1.42 GHz). I use Pages for all of my text editing. It has a few little problems but overall it's great. I can't think of any reason why it would run so slowly on your computer, except for very low RAM. I haven't noticed it being slow even on my 400 MHz iBook G3 clamshell with 384 RAM.
Also, openoffice is coming out with a native cocoa version. It won't be slow like X11 or Neooffice and it will have a nicer interface (hopefully).

This was insightful? Wow. If I could moderate moderations I would give this one 5, Funny .
Why was my post modded as flamebait? I didn't intend it to be.

Its=possessive It's=It is If you're going to correct spelling/grammer...
You didn't answer his question.
He's asking a perfectly legitimate question, why was he modded troll? Also, the ? (not equal, option/alt =) symbol doesn't work on slashdot. :(

That was reasonably funny an on-topic relative to the average /. post, yet it was modded to -1. It should be 3, Funny at least.
So it should be German. If you do use the German word, though, it should be capitalized according to the rules of German.

It's not open source, but Mac OS X comes with Preview.app which is similar to acrobat and IMHO better.
