I would mod you insightful if I had the points, and I agree with you completely. Well said. I have no issues with breastfeeding in public as it's a necessary human function, but a little modesty would be nice for those who don't enjoy looking at it and the militant thrusting of personal opinions on others really grates me. Different things bother different people, no reason for people on either side of the argument to get so riled up about it.
Uh, maybe you're new to being human, but before you can decide if you want to look at something or not, you've already seen it. Or, maybe because you haven't used the site before, you're ignorant to how it works - basically friend pictures are 'pushed' to your page. You could block or disable updates from some people, but you'd have to expect that someone on your list is going to put pictures of themselves breastfeeding to block them in advance.
It's not really a big deal, as I said. I'd just rather not see them, so if it came to a vote I'd vote, "nay."
I'm not puritanical, religious or a prude and I have a healthy taste for porn; but I don't want pictures of nursing women thrust at me. I don't understand why it's necessary to show everyone?
Bias is a tough thing to determine... when you're against something, everything said for the topic seems like bias. When you're for something, everything said against the topic seems like bias in the other direction. Being Canadian, I listen with a fairly open mind and I find they wholly represent all sides of the political spectrum and I don't know that it's entirely the hosts fault if more people tend to be for or against something you're not.
Citations on the 'major' funding cuts please? They recently had a one hour discussion with their ombudsman discussing media bias based on funding, and it was discussed that NPR hardly receives any government at all, and hasn't since the 70's. Not that it's an official source, but Wikipedia would agree, and puts the number at 2% from government grants and progrmas.
This is ironic, considering I recently watched a PBS documentary that showed how GM conspired with a number of other companies and successfully dismantled reliably working trolley systems in various cities back in the 1930's to force people to use buses or cars.
Yes, I would also like to know the specifics of the deal. I'm also curious if the EFF lawyer that represented them received payment for his representation in the form of a settlement, or if his work was done entirely pro-bono.
This post reads, "Microsoft has begun flooding media outlets with information advising users to switch to an alternate browser while a serious security flaw is being patched."
TFA reads, "Microsoft urged people to be vigilant while it investigated and prepared an emergency patch to resolve it." Also, "Users of Microsoft's Internet Explorer are being urged by experts to switch to a rival until a serious security flaw has been fixed."
Microsoft gets enough bashing in here that frot page posts don't need to lie to give them more negative press. This is growing more into Digg every day... can has some moderation on posts pls?
I'm with you. If in-game advertising is unobtrusive and lowers the cost of my game OR promotes them to continually patch or update a game (like Valve's Steam games), I'm all for it.
Yes, I agree with you completely. We need a new subsection of theft involving critical infrastructure, instead of the silly sub-$1000 slap on the wrist fines.
I've noticed a great deal of my computer components, such as Intel motherboards, as of the last couple years have been listing that they're "RoHS" compliant and "Lead Free." If that's the case, what have they been using?
I must be missing something... if vibrate isn't waking you up, then why the hell don't you have your phone on ring? My Blackberry with one of the standard rings is enough to wake the entire house. If you don't know how to set 'important' phone calls on your Blackberry to filter unwanted noise, then maybe it is too much technology for you, and you should get a pager.
I second your suggestion to use rubber grommets. Even the loudest 10k raptor drives are silenced by long screws in rubber grommets. Antec knows this, that's why they include them with almost every single one of their chassis. Chenbro uses some screws with rubber pads on them as well.
In Canada, we have a governing body similar to your FCC called the CRTC. Whenever we have such problems we can contact them and they'll conduct an investigation. So far I've put an end to three instances of harassing telemarketing / late night fax blitzing. I'd contact the FCC next, see what they have to say. Someone somewhere is in charge of moderating this...
You're absolutely wrong. Michael Geist writes a column for the Toronto Star which has a large readership and many 'common folk' were enlightened by his articles, and the Facebook group drew an immense popularity. There were so many people caring that they've prevented the last two from going through.
I agree that he's a 'scummy politician.' He's considerably pandering to what Joe Every-man wants, without considering or acknowledging the economic side effects or tax requirements. He might come off as honest to some, but I see a man taking advantage of every situation, and saying what people want to hear.
I live in a border town, and take my laptop 'over the river' at least once a week as I use it for Microsoft Streets and Trips w/USB GPS and I've never had any questions about the contents, aside from whether or not I just bought it or was importing it (I provided the receipt upon asking).
I also had no issues taking my laptop to and from an islamic nation, travelling through 4 other countries at the same time. Nobody cared.
Oh no's, conspiracy! Consider Vista / Win2k8 compatibility was added to a number of these tools, as well new features and functionalities HAVE been added to many of them.
We went through thirteen years of school singing and/or listening to it, how can you not know the words? Seriously, sit there and try, or load up the background music... I bet the words will just come to you.
Canada does not have any ISPs with unlimited plans. In fact, of all my many choices of ISPs in my area, all of them have *lower* caps than USA's nefarious Comcast.

If OpenBSD itself can detect operating systems with varying levels of success (see pf.os finger printing - http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/man.cgi?query=pf.os&sektion=5&manpath=OpenBSD+4.4) it stands to reason other programs can use this same idea.

Take two hard drives, different makes / models, dump all your important data to them and put them in a fire proof safe.

Come on, man. I had a rough night and I hate the fuckin Eagles, man!

I have the same function on my standalone Blu-Ray player. It's called "Unplug Network Cable."

On the upside of that, if an app crashes on one desktop, it won't bring explorer down on the others.
