[Nintendo's not going for] the college kids getting together for Halo/Ghost Recon/Counterstrike matches,
In my experience, there are at least as many casual college gamers as those who consider themselves "hardcore". The casual ones seem to have given up on modern games, only playing things like old consoles and casual PC games (and, of course, when I pull out Guitar Hero).
You might say that this is the "casual" audience, but then there are people like me who really used to be gamers but have burned out because of how ridiculous games/the industry are today.
On one hand, I find it ironic that the most popular feature of a four hundred dollar console primarily propagandized as ZOMG POWREFUL is a service that lets you download games that could run on ten-year-old consoles.
On the other hand, I'm excited for what could be the "return" of the arcade, shifting from a physical place to an online service
This is not private citizens electing to fund a private charity.... The UN has had its own share of scandals and wasted money, and it has made promises for decades that have rarely been met in any way that can be called successful.
Ignoring the fact that yes, this is a private charity, you're still wrong. Private charities and your God, the almighty capitalist, have had scandals at least as much as the UN. Take your hate elsewhere, troll.
Well, publishers do more than that, but that's not the point. The point here is that EA gets a cut of the profit. I refuse to support a corporation that cannot compete based on the merits of its product, and treats workers' rights as unimportant.
The first is that of a huge, monolith corporation stumbling under its own weight. I think a fair comparison would be a giant Hydra where all heads have to be happy in order to take one step forward. Of course, many Slashdotter-types have seen this coming, the time when the corporations comprising the media cartels will be driven to paralysis by issues like DRM, and this is only the beginning.
The other is the disruptive force of Microsoft on the gaming industry. When I say "disruptive", I mean it neutrally (although my opinions on MS and gaming are definitely not neutral). MS decided to release a year (or three) early, and it's forced Nintendo and Sony to scramble a bit. Unfortunately for Sony, these two issues have compounded in a way that has the possibility of being not so good for their gaming business.
On the other hand, the PS2 had lots of problems launching. Limited stock, few games (especially in Japan). The problems I raise here will definitely affect Sony, but I think it's still too early to guage how much.
I realize that you, being the super-important anarcho-capitalist (tm)(r) that you are, feel the need to share your anti-government wankings every other YRO story. That's great, but I'd appreciate it if you'd stay on topic. Thanks.
Hey, perhaps you could READ THE 20 COMMENTS IDENTICAL TO YOURS before posting. I realize getting your +5, redundant is really great, but seriously dude.
GTA is targeted towards kids? Then why have the past two games (Vice City & San Andreas) had music, themes and cultural references that would completely be lost on kids? Sure, it's easy to say "haha gunz its for kids lol", but the evidence doesn't really point where you want it to.
When several hundred gamers of a particular constituency send a letter to their anti-gaming representative, the tone will change. Something along the lines of "I play videogames. I vote. I will tell my family, friends and co-workers about your attitudes" scares the hell out of the elected.
Given the popularity of the DS and PSP in Japan (check the hardware sales, they're both on top), and also how Japanese gamers go ga-ga over new colors and such with hardware, I think we'll see some interesting things in the future. Now if they'd only start selling the Lite in the US!
Hopefully the inclusion of people who have worked on games like these guys have will bring some fresh air to the MMO space. I guess I just have a problem paying for games that aren't really all that much different than everything else.
The reason I think an exhibit like this is important is that much of the non-Muslim world these days sees Islam as a bunch of crazy dudes. The average person doesn't know that many important things have come from the Muslim world.

I think somebody's forgetting GNUstep

Why do I always think of the Hulk when I read this?
DISLAIMER: I have never used a database in my life, shut up already.
I really don't see how being able to play some of your old games helps the 360's lack of anything good.
Godwin tempts me.
There's no evidence in your link that those people committed those crimes solely in Russia.

And having enough 360s will only be good if they get some decent games.

If I punched an old lady in the face, and traveled to another country, would I be prosecuted there? I didn't think so.

I was excited for Spore. Now I realize that EA is publishing it. Looks like I won't be buying it.
WHOAA. Dude. whoa.
yeah, he does.
Yes, just because I support/oppose issue x means it is the focal point of my political activity. Not.

Ubuntu as a term is not "oddball", it was chosen for a reason.
