    I remember when the Stealth Bomber was called a boondoogle, news programs saying that the military spent so much on the the bomber that it cost more than its weight in gold. The cost of the new Ford Taurus in nearly the same time frame cost more than 3 times the development of the stealth bomber.

    Generally the quickest way to make alot of in game currency thats convertible to actual currency is to buy accounts on the cheap from people leaving the game. Then liquidate all the droppable gear and items off the characters, then sell the characters for near or more than you bought the account for in the first place.

    This might not make much sense, but I'm going to give it a try anyhow.

    At first there were self replicating chemical reactions that started getting rather complex.

    These eventually formed single celled organisms.

    Those single celled organisms then began working in colonies, one dependent on the other, such as mold, in some cases two different types such as algae. (ok, could be the other way around I get confused on that sometimes =P)

    Eventually you have multi-cellular organisms.

    Plants, animals, people, the whole bit.

    Animals working together taking down larger game than one could take down singly.

    People living together, working together doing different jobs, in most cases nobodies job is a basis for survival job, yet everyone is fed. Almost like an organism itself, comprised of people instead of cells.

    (Btw, one reason to take care of ones sick and weak in hunter/gatherer scenario. Predators are only interested in the sick and weak that are alive. If you let your sick and weak die, then who do you feed to the predators while your running away?)

    With the "King" commercials it has been like watching a surreal train wreck.
    I can't imagine playing their games.

    You seem to imply that this is the bane of only american society, and none others.

    You see this type of behaviour all over the world, not just in america. All societies though out history have had problems with those who break the rules to gain an unfair advantage.

    Microsoft has decided that backward compatibly with DirectX 9,8,7 isn't really necessary as there will probably will be even less compatible with Vista.

    Even so, dear Microsoft hasn't totally forgotten us. Some sort of "compatibility" will be available through a software layer (probably some emulation) which will have its price in system resources, as it will run much slower. The good news is that DirectX 10 will relieve some of the burden on the CPU.

    No GM producer is going to produce a crop which makes corn, wheat, soy and rice allergic to people with common allergies. It would lose them money in both lawsuits and in lost sales. Think about it for a little while.


    He used a common allergy as an example to convey the idea. Think about how much worse it would be for someone with an uncommon allergy. As you say above, no GM producer would produce a crop that spread a common allergy. Its not just a possibility, but an eventuality that a GM producer would produce a crop that contained an uncommon allergy, whether they know it or not at the time.

    Dell might be required to ship only Vista for consumer level, and possibly small business, but corporate can still get 98 second edition if they ask for it afaik.

    Dell will not be forcing their corporate clients to upgrade. Which are who they sell most of their computers to.

    You skipped Windows 2k. Windows 2k is XP without the bullshit. It works, its basic, and it doesn't have half the security flaws.

    I'll agree with everyone else here though on your insane XP is worse than 98 comment. One of my computer illiterate co-workers at an old job used to log into her 98 machine by clicking cancel at the log in. How do you get worse than that?

    I understand that saying that DirectX 10 might be an upgrade from DirectX 9.

    The question is that since Direct X 10 is going to be tied to Vista and not available for 98/2K/XP then there will not be a substantial user base available for any games that happen to use Direct X 10.

    Tying DirectX 10 to Vista might be a selling point for Vista, but it might also mean the death of DirectX.

    From reading the article it seems like they know exactly when and where it will hit. And yes, it will hit on the dark side, though in sight of earth. The better to see the flash.

    This won't be the sort of explosion we'd see on Earth. The Moon has no oxygen to support fire or combustion. Instead, the flash will be caused by rocks and soil made so hot by the impact that they suddenly glow.

    The area will be in complete darkness at the moment of impact, so much the better to see the flash.

    Our race is rather petty. Actually very petty, perhaps even very very petty.

    But thats besides the point. Real estate might have been used for lack of a better term, I don't think that moon topography will be sold off in lots anytime soon. For now the moon has no owner, and is a harsh mistress.

    Still thinking this plot was rather Rube Goldbergish in design. Smuggle in a liquid explosive somehow ( I'm fairly sure they check thermos's and the like ) , also smuggle in a detonator in an electronic device ( all of which get x-ray'd afaik ). And then somehow in the middle of the flight, in front of everyone, try to get it all to go boom. Sorry I call bullshit. A guy trying to light his shoe with a lighter got stopped, I can imagine that would be alot less conspicuious than this hair brained scheme.

    The 9/11 attack was simplicity, thats why it worked. Just a couple guys with box cutters and some knowledge.

    Btw, conspiracy side. Ya'll can't carry on drinks onto flights anymore, have fun paying $5 for half a can of soda.

    I used to do a fair amount of work at Dells loading docks. The main culprits for theft were of course Security themselves. Third party thefts were very uncommon, though the most interesting thefts were those of people who would attempt to steal full trailers full of computers. They almost always failed.

    It being 100 CPUs at $100 an hour makes no difference.

    Now if it was $1 to run on 100 CPU's for 1 hour, well, now we're talking.

    As is it costs me a couple pennies a day to run an app on my 2.2ghz athlon64.

    I see someone bought a Nvidia 6200, with the 64bit bus that was a piece of shit.

    While the reviewers and some lucky people got a 6600 with some barely masked pipes that was labeled a 6200.

    Same here, it sucked.
