    Today it just tells us that if people are doing it they believe that the exploration of space is still nothing but a nationalist pissing contest, of no practical value at all.

    One should remember that the nationalism is part of the propaganda regarding space exploration so of course they will do stupid stuff like have their own name for those who crew space vehicles.

    NASA has held no one back, they have pushed forward. Just because no one followed does not mean they are holding them back.

    There are hundreds of space programs, from communication satellites to Spaceship one.

    Please provide me with an example of NASA holding a company back.

    Unless some FTL civilization just stumbles across us, I don't think so.

    I would think that an FTL civilization would have some form of FTL communication. How would we know their FTL communication protocol if we can't even imagine the technology involved? As such there is no communication with FTL civilizations unless they initiate contact.

    Saying there won't be any purpose is not the same as asking if there won't be any purpose. I had my own ideas about the usefulness of communicating outside of our solar system with no possibility of FTL, but I wanted to see what other people could come up with.

    I'm doubtful about interstellar trade if there is no FTL. In the time period it may take to trade with other solar systems we could very well master alchemy. And even communication has an expiration date in that we could very well obtain the answer to any question we may ask in the time it may take to reply.

    Entertainment may be the most driving force to find extraterrestrial life.

    Atoms may boil away in nuclear decay, but Shakespeare is eternal.

    The pressure you can apply is though your congresscritter. Let your congressperson know how you feel on this topic, if you bug them enough they may be motivated to do something about this. Even if they just do it for re-election points, it's still something.

    I would think that there would be special allowances for creatures created in a lab.

    I'm fairly certain that there are a number of unique mice and rats species used in animal testing that were developed in a lab.

    If not I guess research would be considered its native habitat so to comply we would have to do research even after animal testing is abandoned.

    Hard to know if something infringes on your patent if you don't know the implementation.

    Tivo's lawsuit against AT&T gave Microsoft the groundwork necessary to compare how Tivo's system works in comparison to Microsoft's system. /Devils Advocate

    Always have a clear objective and stick to the objective.

    If you go in to steal the credit card information from the mainframe do not get distracted by the laptop just left in someones cube. Just leave the laptop alone, its probably loaded with software capable of tracing back to you. Targets of opportunity are just opportunities for you to get busted.

    I found similar issues with the maps site: directions are easier to manipulate in Google, and Google lets me search by public transit, or by walking. One good feature in Bing: get directions based on traffic. Google does something similar with "avoid highways", but it's not the same thing.

    Just tried to double check what you said regarding googles choices regarding traffic. Google gave me three different routes to choose from with time estimates and a second time estimate that takes into account traffic. It's not the same as Bing, but Google maps is still evolving.

    If I was posting for the company I work for I would create a new account specific for the company I work for to post with. I would not use my everyday account.

    I find his post rather credible and I don't see how old his login has bearing on the issue. I find his answer credible because of the argument made.

    So, what is the reason that you are posting as AC? Just trolling are you?
