That's a federal law counteracting a federal law, though. It's not the same as a local law counteracting a federal law. It's like Milwaukee county saying you can start flogging people at will who look at your children. Federal law calls that assault. :)

The federal communications act of 1924 enables the reception of radio waves on all frequencies by any device, including special frequencies used by telecommunications and government.

It's not legal to broadcast on them. It's not legal to decipher their contents if they are encrypted (DMCA).

Every state that has had a radar detector case go to the federal level has lost the case and been forced to invalidate the local law.

That isin't even a problem any more, because of SS7. E.g. 1-800-MUSIC-NOW when it came out had many people scratching their heads, since it's a 12 digit number. :)

Each time you dial a number, the switch sends a SS7 request to locate the next node, and those nodes are connected in tandem one digit at a time...

No timers or +1 required, just a dedicated SS7-capible switch.

This lowers cost for providers, and eventually lowers costs for consumers.

The solution is to enforce token-based mail sending that has an associated real world cost, even if it's one the end-user can specify himself for unknown senders.

Okay, let's preface. This guy has a good idea in the memory allocation department.

    Problem 1:

It's not easy, nor fast to write. Errors are severe if present and undetected. Code required to be reliable might not be a good place to test this allocation method.

    Problem 2:

I'm not entirely sure these concepts are very portible outside of GCC. May not be a big deal to most, but uh, multiplatform code is required in some enviroments.

    Problem 3:

Any speed increase without massive resource wasting is pure dumb luck during heavy usage, unless used in an application that takes little user input or has limits on the ammount of input.

    Just my $0.02.
