    "wealth" is not a zero sum game. It can be created. There are many ways wealth can be created or accumulated that are both ethical and legal. The government does attempt to stop theft, fraud, extortion, and other methods that are illegal. What legal means of acquiring wealth would you like them to stop?

    Having worked with them extensively I think they actually need a bit more outsourcing. In many areas they are way behind mostly due to an excess of "not invented here" and a lack of employees with extensive experience elsewhere. Their managers are primarily lifetime Walmart employees who grew up with the company. Another big chunk of their IT workforce were hired straight out of college and have no perspective on how the rest of the world does IT.

    Absolutely not true. Horses do not need oats. They can live happily on just grass and they don't really need it to be fertilized or sprayed. In areas where you have sufficient open space (about 7 Acres per horse in most places) there is virtually no energy cost. In other areas, there would be the cost of cutting and transporting the hay.

    While many of the components of OS X come from BSD it is indeed certified as UNIX per the UNIX 03 standard.... unlike Ubuntu.

    You obviously haven't worked on ANY newish car then have you. They all use special fasteners of various types. They also ALL require special proprietary tools and software for many repairs.

    That top-sites preview page is rarely loaded, especially if you have changed your home page. I would not expect it to have much effect on the stats. Chrome pre-rendering happens on virtually all pages.

    I can see from your email address that your in the UK. In the US diesel is actually more expensive than gasoline. This is primarily due to taxes but the pricing is also influenced by refinery capacity. In any case, diesel is not substantially cheaper at the retail level.

    Rands philosophy does not prohibit government service, spending or initiatives. Where she differed from conventional thinking is in how the government should be financed. She believed that contributions to the government should be voluntary.

    Have you been to a major technical conference lately? The number of developers and highly technical folks using Macs is through the roof and it is continuing to increase. Pretty much the only ones I see not using Macs are those required to use a specific config. Many of those are carrying two laptops, a company issued machine and a Macbook Pro.

    I just presented to a group of about 100 enterprise architects from Fortune 500 companies. I'd say 8 out of 10 were carrying MacBooks Pros.

    The 17" MacBook Pro will drive two 27" Thunderbolt monitors at 2560x1440 while still using the internal display. It's pretty amazing.

    Thats another great thing about the 17" MacBook Pro. It will drive two 27" Thunderbolt monitors at 2560x1440 while still using the internal display. It's pretty amazing.

    HFS+ with journaling enabled is as solid as EXT. Journaling is on by default if the disk was formatted in the past several years. I'm curious to know if he had it turned off.

    While it is certainly the most common transport, there is nothing that requires the use of ethernet for the internet. It's quite possible to get by without it.

    There is actually a large percentage of protestant christianity that explicitly preaches that there is no proxy. The belief that you do do not require an intermediary is one of the key factors that led to the reformation.

    Have you ever seen a Mac Pro with multiple cards? It's flawless. Ive built advertising/media displays with up to 16 monitors. Never an issue.

    Are you sure you didn't mean Dell? Apple designs mobile processors, batteries, machined aluminum cases, custom chips of various kinds and I'm sure a lot more that I'm missing. Sure they use some off the shelf parts but to say they don't design any of unique parts is just wrong.

    That's not what it generally means in the US. A "not for profit" here is literally an organization that does some function, usually charitable or community service, that is not intended to make a profit. In fact, I believe they are legally prohibited from making a profit if they wish to maintain their special tax status.
