Can someone help understand this quote:
"This enables us to focus on deep integration between Windows and the silicon, while maintaining maximum reliability and compatibility with previous generations of platform and silicon."
And the fact it ONLY work with Windows 10... where is the compatibility?
My mother would still pick up the phone and call me. I agree with you it's in decline but I would not rule that out yet... the number of phone call per day is still very high!
By reading what you just wrote, you may be confuse but you still know a lots more than most people do. What bank don't keep all my money in cash in their vault filled with gold bar?
I'm pretty sure the government in going into the direction of using only secrecy orders ALL THE TIME. Easier, no complain, no report, no end date... why using the "normal" process anyway?
Why not 198 backdoors of each country in the world ? Plus maybe one of the UN? And each of the country will have a direct access to live decryption and nothing bad will come out of that.
If the data worth more than what the ransom is why not? Even the FBI recommend paying in bitcoin if you really want the data back.
It's sound terrible but that's cheap to get a lesson and secure or backup your data properly!
I think you get it correctly, but do the way browsers are build you need a valid not-self signed certificate and Lets encrypt do exactly that... If you get hacked or have your system not working your certificate will expired after 90 days limited the problem of a forgotten certificate (for instance if you switch server).
I'm a user for Lets Encrypts and as my existing certificate expired I'm replacing them all with this awesome services.
I predict in the future more countries will require company to host data in their own country. We already started to see those kind of policy from search engine, social media and now the banking sector.
What kind of nightmare it will be have a global company?
Agree, the funny part about Bitcoin is that they change the definition of it when they can to their own profit.
Sometimes it's a currency, other a commodity or just a payment channel...

I did a quick lookup and the download are made from:
https://ipv4_1-cxl0-c273.1.nyc.......
I believe this is the same domain as the real video so that would make it harder to block on "fast.com" since data are not downloaded from that domain name.
The same happened when Winamp or ICQ got purchased. The new company put the crap they want. Failed to understand the code and get stuck with hard to fix bug until the people move to another product.
Setuping your own mail server is fine. I do that. But it's far more time consuming that upgrading a mail client... especially when from time to time your ip block get banned for no reason. Requesting reviewer and get unblocked.... with hotmail.com domain you don't have to deal with that.
Correct, nothing is priced in bitcoin but if you try to buy or sell for a million dollars of bitcoin you will influence the price because the exchanges do not have this kind of liquidity at stop price.
How can I protect my computer against that?
It's almost criminal...

With all those monitoring do you feel safer that nobody can do harm with your personal information?

I guess that would go in the same line as forcing something to give a DNA sample to match stuff found on the victim/crime scene?

If half are mobile, does that means those run on windows phone?
I hope not, the best Satoshi could do is release a signed message telling the world he is not Craig Wright

I tend to agree since the hacker said he will sold it only once, that seems to be a good deal for Microsoft.

This is mostly related to antivirus that do extra certificate verification.
