And the fact it ONLY work with Windows 10... where is the compatibility?

    My mother would still pick up the phone and call me. I agree with you it's in decline but I would not rule that out yet... the number of phone call per day is still very high!

    I'm pretty sure the government in going into the direction of using only secrecy orders ALL THE TIME. Easier, no complain, no report, no end date... why using the "normal" process anyway?

    Why not 198 backdoors of each country in the world ? Plus maybe one of the UN? And each of the country will have a direct access to live decryption and nothing bad will come out of that.

    If the data worth more than what the ransom is why not? Even the FBI recommend paying in bitcoin if you really want the data back. It's sound terrible but that's cheap to get a lesson and secure or backup your data properly!

  13. I think you get it correctly, but do the way browsers are build you need a valid not-self signed certificate and Lets encrypt do exactly that... If you get hacked or have your system not working your certificate will expired after 90 days limited the problem of a forgotten certificate (for instance if you switch server). I'm a user for Lets Encrypts and as my existing certificate expired I'm replacing them all with this awesome services.

    agree even if you don't have some automated backup I can't believe the machine was not backup once in a while in 12 years!!!

    I predict in the future more countries will require company to host data in their own country. We already started to see those kind of policy from search engine, social media and now the banking sector. What kind of nightmare it will be have a global company?

    I did a quick lookup and the download are made from: https://ipv4_1-cxl0-c273.1.nyc....... I believe this is the same domain as the real video so that would make it harder to block on "fast.com" since data are not downloaded from that domain name.

    Setuping your own mail server is fine. I do that. But it's far more time consuming that upgrading a mail client... especially when from time to time your ip block get banned for no reason. Requesting reviewer and get unblocked.... with hotmail.com domain you don't have to deal with that.

    Correct, nothing is priced in bitcoin but if you try to buy or sell for a million dollars of bitcoin you will influence the price because the exchanges do not have this kind of liquidity at stop price.
