Yeah, I know. I've written rants before on the asshattery of Stern pinball, and I may again at some point. It's a shame that Stern ended up with the rights to the Data East platform. And I guess I have a big imagination when it comes to envisioning rooms full of wonderfulness.:)
The article said every piece of hardware. I see no Virtua Racing, no Sega Rally, no Top Skater, no arcade games to speak of. I also don't see any pinball machines.
Sega's shining stars were in the arcade (with the exception of the Naomi system which was just a Dreamcast on 'roids). I was genuinely excited that there might still be a mint collection of arcade jewels, but instead I'm treated to pictures of spindles of preproduction GD-ROMs.
Oh well, it's still a neat collection. I admit I'm still a little bit envious.
For me it was more of an affirmation. My first thought was: "hey, that looks exactly like a lot of my quickie projects!"
It is interesting to encounter someone who has similar traits to your own.
In Latin class several of us had to translate some sentences on the chalkboard. When I sat back down at my desk and looked up I noticed that I couldn't tell where my (incredibly bad) handwriting stopped and the handwriting of a girl I had a crush on began. It was kind of spooky.
I've found that programming drunk isn't bad, and the results are usually pretty good. The problem is that you have to debug drunk too. Oh wait, that's not really a problem.:)
Of course. Then the aide will be so busy playing with his blackberry that he won't notice the attractive woman. Of course if he did notice her he'd still be too shy to talk to her.
Your response was condescending and presumptive. I never said I favored MySQL or any other DBMS for that matter. Your snotty little comment about playing in the street only reinforces my already negative view of Postgres zealots.
It doesn't matter how right you are about whatever it is. Like it or not, how you deliver your message is as important or more important than the message itself. This applies to just about anything: databases, operating systems, which end of a softboiled egg you eat first, and of course, politics.
You zealots have a lot in common with Ron Paul supporters. Any merit your cause might carry is completely nullified by the overwhelming nature of your enthusiasm.
I'm done now. I will never comment on this subject again, mainly because I'm tired of burning karma on ACs, but also because I know that nothing I say matters to anyone on either side.
I was going to say something to the effect of "In B4 PostgreSQL troll". Alas..
Every time an article mentions MySQL some asshat chimes in to support his/her favorite pet DB. Postgres seems to have the most vocal zealots, and I'm tired of it.
I don't know what to think about the moderation on this one. My post was meant to be funny, but you seem to have captured my humorous intentions better than I did. Either way, I accept your nomination and will immediately begin my search for qualified voice actors.
Hmm, I thought of the Islamist tack as well, but I had a different approach. Let's use their zealotry against them.
We'll see how motivated they are to blow themselves up when Allah himself tells them that suicide bombing is a deal breaker on the whole eternal paradise thing.
How about a catalyst that takes CO2, H2O and photon energy and converts it into sugar and oxygen? Then we could use another catalyst to convert the sugar into alcohol. *Runs off to the patent office*
The danger is not in the idea that these few media companies can control their content.
The concern is that once the technology to allow that control is in place, the old adage about absolute power begins to apply. Other companies will begin to build on this groundwork, or just license it outright; eventually leading to the near complete subversion of the internet.
Oh come on, that was the cleverest troll I've seen in a while. Throw this guy a bone for funny.

I can't believe I'm still feeding AC trolls, but here goes... You seem to be neglecting a word that is in BOTH OF YOUR LINKS. That word would be "perception". Are you going to quote a Family Feud survey in your next response? Are you going to log in so you can take the credit/blame for what you say?

The conference on phishing and spamming should be called the Ass Hat conference.
I'm not sure if that was a typo or a reasonably good pun. Either way you asked two questions, neither of which has a satisfactory answer.

Since I will apparently never see mod points again, I will simply congratulate you on so beautifully explaining the problem.
Please will someone mod parent up?

I think your delivery was too subtle. Slashdot's audience is so broadly distributed that the only universal humor left in brevity is a fart joke.

Apparently some of those zealots have modpoints. Does that make you feel like a big man?
An overrated mod is only available because it makes people feel less childish than marking "-1: I disagree with this" or "-1: This offended me".
If you're gonna get pissy, at least mod me down with something meaningful.

It sounds like multihomed routing is what you're looking for. there's a decent intro here:

That depends on how many promised revolutionary technologies they need to drop to make the deadline.
It's nice to see a judge with a spine. I love reading stories about lawyers getting called out when they step over the line.
What's that in Volkswagen Beetles?

Removing knives from the hands of Brits will also cut down on the number of crimes committed in the kitchen.
My apologies to our British friends, this was a cheap shot at your cooking which has admittedly improved.
