why he is not filing lawsuits against the movie industry for making violent films, the recording industry for gangster rap, Hell, why not the auto industry as I am sure kids have stolen cars and crashed them injuring and killing people.
I am so sick of the "it's for the children" brigade hiding behind that line and using it to force their own version of morality on the rest of us.
I hate to advocate assassination, but some people really are too stupid to be allowed to live... Someone needs to chlorinate this idiots gene pool.
Yes, but once again you are overlooking the hidden costs... Lube and hemorrhoid cream are not free you know....
What these Nimrods don't take into account is....

New Piracy Loss Estimate
·
· Score: 2, Insightful
They fail to consider the losses that their heavy handed Gestapo style tactics have caused. They are driving away many of their consumers I am willing to bet. I for one have not purchased music in going on 7 years now, the last movie I saw in the theatre was South Park.I seldom purchase dvd's anymore and in all honesty I dont miss it.
I like to consider myself a man of principle, and my heart tells me what they are doing is wrong so I refuse to be a part of it.
At first, it kinda hurt, I hated listening to the radio due to all the commercials, and there were movies that came out that I really wanted to see and did not want to wait to come out on DVD or the movie channels but after a while, you get used to it. Purchasing an XM Radio really helped alot, so now I dont miss the CD's and with a Tivo and a phat home theater setup, I allways have something to watch so I dont mind waiting for the movies to come out on cable.
I know that my silent little protest doesnt do shit to hurt their industry, and I am not niave enough to think that a mass boycott will ever work but screw em, I aint paying those jerks a dime if I can possibly avoid it:)
I wonder if the manufacturers of player piano music claimed that their losses were due to pirates when technology changed and made their buisness model obsolete?
I long for the death of the recording industry.......
Another great service...

Futurama Returns
·
· Score: 3, Insightful
Done by Cartoon Network. Im sure the high ratings Futurama reruns get there and on Fox had a lot to do with it.
Since its pretty common knowledge that roughly 80% of US paper money is contaminated with cocaine, the more cash you carry the more likely the government will bust you as a drug dealer:)
Over the last 2 years I have purchased 6 pieces of software for PC (All games) that refused to work on my computer because of DRM
I started researching on the newsgroups and learned that this can be caused by programs that create "Virtual Drives" and whatnot, none of which were installed on my computer at the time.
I had heard of them but never had the need to learn about them prior to this. Well, to make a long story short all I had to do was install Daemon and mount a fixed image in order to play my legally purchased software.
I don't have a problem with artists/publishers wanting to protect their intellectual property, but when it gets to the point that it is a burden for their lawful purchasers they really need to reevaluate what they are doing. I guess we will have to wait for the "Tech Savy" Generations to age enough to fill the political offices so they can enact legislation to fix all the damage done to the historical definition of "Fair Use".
I always thought the same thing. After all, if the general public is paying for most of the research, they should be allowed to view the results and you never know when some layman or amature in the field will have a breakthrough just by being inspired by an easily located paper.
Also, I just dont understand their position that unless the access to the materials is limited science will suffer. That sounds absolutly ridiculous to me
Now thats bloody clever... Well done!
I had the devil went down to georgia music going through my head while reading it. Does this mean I owe some record company money?
Sure, Consumers will have to search for really good music and not be able to sit back and accept whatever "Factory Generated" garbage the recording industry spoon feeds them, but I am sure most people will be willing to do that.
I am guessing that we will see the end of the Mega-Band that makes crazy money (not that some are not good bands)and instead see more small bands and independant musicians that are able to make an upper middle class level income by creating new and fresh music which would vastly increase the number of great pieces out there.
The actions of this one band at least give me the hope of such a future.
Or maybe I am wrong. It could be the Scotch talking.
Someone needs to crash a plane into Jack Thompson.....
And rip the car keys out of everyones pockets as well as fry their credit cards! GO ANARCHY! :)

Or maybe I am borderline retarded
Remember, 2+2=5 and avoid room 101!

Its also scary that I am old enough to get the reference.
Yeah, I hear ya. These guys sound like a bunch of 'Plicks'
On the bright side if we did get flushed through the vortex at least we would no longer be located in the unfashionable western edge of the galaxy.

Judging from the shirts on T-shirt Hell everything is legal on a t-shirt
