    I'd say if the chip doesn't work they'd suspect you of forging it. After a year they'll have heard the microwave excuse so much that they'll stop checking for forgeries and forgers will be able to get away with having ID cards with broken RFID.

    So microwave away, just remember you might end up zapping your microwave along with the chip.

    I think this will help bring about the rise of Ubuntu in the consumer market. Most consumers need a shiny goody for their computer whether it be file sharing, TV/DVD, or music playing, and if Ubuntu gets really good at those things plus email, security, and a standard interface, then nothing will stop the free software wave.

    Wouldn't it be wild if we'd come to earth hundreds of thousands of years ago from Venus, seeded only by "Adam and Eve" who were a bit like breeding Superman(s), while the Venusian civilization died, and the one on Earth began to rebuild from scratch?

    I do use FF 1.07 on a 233MMX Compaq with 48MB of RAM and it's very slow to load compared to IE. Page rendering works, but IE is still faster on the system. I don't remember how fast FF is in DSL on that machine, but my point stands that FF is a RAM hog and it's hard to have more than a tab open on it without at least 128MB RAM.

    fortuantely even DSL needs at least 128MB of RAM to be effective. While these laptops might have that, there are many computers like 486's that might otherwise be able to surf the web, but Firefox is a RAM hog and makes any system with less than 128MB suffer.

    On the Internet, my blog can be read as quickly or as widely as any newspaper, all it takes is a few good links on well read websites. This is why it's relavent to the discussion. Without proper tagging or headlining, it's entirely possible for a professional organization to end up with next to no readerhip.

    When I make a submission to Slashdot I find the least sensational headlines get published more often than my flamebait or flashy headlines. When blogging I make extremely long and descriptive headlines that use nearly full sentences and sometimes have witty double meanings or I relate two stories from seperate paragraphs in the same blog entry. The effect on google and technorati is undetermined.

    I haven't RTFA, but is there a place that lets you post a video, and it automatically offers a Torrent of the video for download? It seems like a good way for a popular video to get around quickly without causing any one server a huge bandwidth bill.

    What's more surprising is that Slashdot didn't have a single anus joke on April Fool's Day. Where was the Goatse guy, when clearly he's made more people think "OMG" on Slashdot than anyone else, even Ponies.

    I though the "10th" Planet debate along with the Pluto planet debate were both more significant in the public eye than the questionable puns of the 7th planet, but I guess Slashdot has shown otherwise. We're more concerned with bum hole jokes than figuring out what the real definition of a planet is. What's the accepted name of Uranus in other languages anyway?

    Dr. Behe has some serious sour grapes going on.

    He's redefining complex as "at least three" instead of just a combination which could be two things that have changed together in this experiement that's been conducted sucessfully. Once other scientists start validating it, and expanding on this reasearch, we should see a decline in the number of "experts" standing behind Intelligent Design's "give up" attitude.

    I was exagerating to explain the editor's apparent lapse of Dupe protection. I too have had a drilling or two even without Novacaine to numb the tooth, and survived just fine. I prefer with numbing though, I just make sure not to chew much for a couple hours.

    It's alright, us Slashdot readers understand. After having your teeth drilled without Novacaine it's understandable that you're suffering from memory loss or blocking out the trauma as previously reported.
