It begs the question, though: What was a laptop doing with half a million people worth of loan data? Shouldn't that kind of thing be "locked up" on a server (or a cluster of servers) somewhere?
I live in a place where the only two ways to get internet access are $30/mo dial-up connections or $600 $70/mo satellite DSL connections. It's a good thing other companies aren't following suit at the moment.
Seriously, I don't think Sony will push Microsoft out of the market. Microsoft has many gajillions of dollars to back the console, and they'll keep at it until no amount of money will save it, which -may- happen in the distant future with the NEXT generation of consoles.
One theory is that at this point in time, we're actually coming OUT of an ice age, which suggests that even if we didn't pollute excessively, the world would be warming anyway (albeit at a decreased rate).
I agree completely. I can go into any Linux, channel, merely mention the word "Windows," and everyone is all over it like Linux is the One True Path or something.
Contrarily, in the Windows channel I attend, I'd wager 3 out of 4 people (including myself) run Windows and Linux regularly.
Hehe, wait until we have the "600 000 medical records lost (or stolen) from hospital X" news, following similar trends for other important electronic data we see nowadays.
Reminds me of this article. It's backup data, but data is data.
Our lives are being integrated into and eventually controlled by electrons, the very things we sought to control.
While moving the OS to a BSD-based (or BSD derived?) kernel, I think the iPod also contributed largely to their success. I mean, most kids at the high school I went to, they didn't want an MP3 player...they wanted an iPod. This ties in with marketing.

Is it time for more MythBusters Shark Week yet?

Does this new version fix bugs like the cockpit randomly catching fire?
Yes I know it was politically incorrect and potentially unfunny because of it.
Didn't Dustan Hoffman already find a cure for Ebola?
Users would eventually figure that using OSX on regular, unsupported PCs is too much trouble and would thus cease from doing so.
Yeah, and Linus figured that modifying and using Minix on other hardware was too much trouble and thus ceased hacking it.
...if left to our own devices, programmers would always use the most whiz-bang, untested, unstable stuff out there. It's the technophile nature.
Isn't that also Gentoo nature? No, seriously.

I think the REAL news here is that Konami still gives a shit about DDR anymore.
It's a trap to get Microsoft to create a MicroPod, so Apple can sue.
Oh boy, a new industry bing word. Your website isn't cool without all the stuff like Web 3.0 and XML.
How much you wanna bet this kind of stuff starts off in a marketing think tank?
Slashdot: Science for nerds, like dark energy and matter.
India: The Future of the Past.

The number .276 is brought to you by the MLBPA.
Seriously, copyrights have been getting out of hand recently. This is rediculous. How can you own numbers?!
An Apple a day keeps PC tech support away?
Interesting idea, but I think people would think the colonies would ruin their ocean view!
from the platforms-never-die dept.
Appearently CmdrTaco thinks otherwise.

Did they find who left the Sony Music CD in the drive when they were done listening?
Perhaps you could be thinking of Tidal power?
It's not from the 16-bit era, but my all-time favorite game is Deus Ex. Modern shooters can't even hold a candle to its story and gameplay.

In all seriousness, what does this mean for people who post comments on, per se, blogs? Am I now unable to use my own comment in any other place?
