You may be closer to the truth than you know: $10 (Yeah, I know I'm cheap...) says that researchers will later find out that human activity is impeding the waves and if that impediment continues, it will ruin biological interactions all over the planet... Yeah, you know whats going to happen: monkeys falling out of trees, birds migrating the wrong way, and lesbian women becoming sexually attracted to nerds. Also, hell freezing over.
Why not call it a "theory"? It is a manner of interaction (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory) that has been observed, and that could still be falsified, but hasn't yet. Perhaps it isn't a law, because it isn't empirical fact? HP could have put us in a place to falsify Moore's Law; it only remains to be seen how the new technology is really implemented and distributed. But I won't hold my breath: Moore's "Law" does have a strong history behind it.
As far as the fund-raising bar at the top is concerned, I think it's a good idea: the "[mentioned organization] will match today's donations" bit is a good way to raise funds. But as far as other advertising is concerned, I think we should answer with a resounding "NO!" Wikipedia doesn't need to fund a complex bureaucracy - public members are bureaucracy enough. Anything more would render Wikipedia FUBAR, as would special interest customers of advertising space. Besides, we have enough trouble with companies like Wal-Mart http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/04/28/13 31232 (http://slashdot.org/) screwing with Wikipedia; why do we want to invite more trouble. I don't think Wikipedia is "squandering" its web traffic; I think it's imparting knowledge in a way that surpasses almost all of our other educational endeavors. Well, that's what I think, anyway...
"'We all know that as soon as somebody comes up with a way to secure a piece of property, somebody else will come within days and crack it,' says Lawrence Iser."...It's the damn-hard truth...
Excellent points; concise, yet exhaustive. I might only add that the only reason Microsoft still gets so much business is because you can't teach millions of people to use a different OS or word processor all at once. I bet even Bill Gates hates microsoft to some degree also (now), probably the way Tchaikovsky disliked the Nutcracker Suite...
Keep in mind that the evolutionary goal of any species is to promote itself through reproduction. So, the people who you say are "dumber" are, in "Nature's" book, smarter for propagating and passing on their genetic traits. If you really are in a position to look down on said "dumb people", you should be looking for an intelligent mate or making lots of babies with that intelligent mate in order to protect the future of our species. Hurry. Sex. NOW!;)
These machines were actually refurberished from old ones used by Sheetz (Or some other gas station with make-your-own-sandwich consoles). They keep selecting bologna for you and end up giving everyone a big pickle...
I wonder how much of this projected inovation is the result of a renewed effort, spurred by AMD's earlier challenges. I really hope that AMD keeps competing at the same level, otherwise, we'll see prices go right back up again, and definitely more of Intel's cheesy marketing.
When Steve Perry was asked about E3, he said: "Well, for us it was a big event, it was crowded, it was noisy, and you really couldn't accomplish anything. It was just more of a show in terms of accomplishing anything other than seeing the new game systems."...And I say, "Hm, just like your stores during Christmas..."
Didn't Google almost do the same thing? (I think they only made a statement of discontent with the liberal use of the 'verb', "google".) This should elicit the same response: Apple should be happy that the ever growing lexicon of the English language is practically doing their marketing for them.
I figure I fit into the author's stereotype. However, if you consider the sidebar, here ---, as an indicator, I'm thinking he represents a minority.

Sony's worst enemy is itself. I don't think their outlook is as promising as the article indicates. Nintendo should have no problem at least cutting a good profit.
What's with all the redundant and worthless comments about sharks and airplanes? I thought this topic deserved some intelligent conversation... In leiu of this, I would like to ask, what does this mean for the rest of the industry? Are we looking at a situation in which Intel patents the findings and regains control of the processor market(and even the rest of the electronics market for this matter)? On a different note, this is pretty good news for a lot of things: (1)Smaller batteries, because laptops will require less energy to run. (2)less heat (maybe? that's more of a guess). (3)Faster running system (obviously, from the article). (4)Now even your processor can be pimped out - pick your team: red or blue?

And the lesson? - Tell your kids to become geriatric doctors, because, by the time they're done with med school, that's where the money will be.
I was responding exactly as you requested - The parent had missed the link "Marsenne prime", which provides an article explaining that some 2^n-1 numbers are not primes and who proved what. The original post already provided Mr. "Help" with the info he needed. Don't worry - but I'm sure I didn't even need to point that out; you've made him feel plenty stupid already.

And, watch out Apple Martin - If you even think of chosing the same career as your father...

Euros. It's in the article.
