The Python library documentation isn't bad, as such things go.
True, the documentation isn't bad. However, example code is almost entirely missing in most cases, which is where this book comes in. It's not a documentation replacement, it's a supplement.
I used to work on the floor at the CBOT and paper was everywhere (this was about 5 years ago, I'm a developer of trading software now). We used to just tear up paper and throw it on the ground - there is no sense of staying nice and neat down there, and I don't even remember garbage cans being anywhere around to be honest.
Done reading a newspaper? Just throw it on the ground. The market took off and you need new sheets? Just tear them up and throw them in the air.
I have seen several times that the prices on Fry's website don't match the prices in the store, and have been told several times that they don't even honor web prices in the store. I admit to not having read the fine-print anywhere, but this was just asinine to me - maybe it is this way with other stores, but I haven't seen that when checking Best Buy or Circuit City specifically.
Fry's had a video card for $X on the site, then I went into the store and it was $X+75...and the salespeople thought I was crazy to think I would get it just for $X. They also thought I was crazy for leaving the store to go home and order it online.
I hate Tiger Direct online, but I live about a mile from that outlet warehouse so I'll stop in there every once in a while. There was also a CompUSA right near there as well, which shut down over a year ago and had some very good sales at the end. I picked up a good UPS for fairly cheap.
This is what Frank does in the movie Thief. He takes off the tracking device and puts it on a Greyhound bus, which I think is on it's way to Des Moines, Iowa, if I remember correctly.
Your comparison seems to be of people of the same level. Two new grads vs. one new grad, or two seniors vs. one senior. To change your original scenario, would you rather hire two recent grads at $50k, or one senior level worker at $125k? It is $25k cheaper to hire two recent grads...but when you put them together, do you get the quality of a senior level worker with say 8 years of experience? Probably not. The one senior level guy might work 50 hours a week, but he probably does more than two recent grads 3 months out of college working 40 hours.
What's there to know about a fielder ? I can see perhaps studying A-Rods play, but even that is debatable.
Nothing. Hitters are being watched for the most part. Even the center fielder, who if he chooses to watch film, is probably watching a hitter. They look for tendencies, how to get reads on a ball, what they will do in certain counts, etc.
The only players worth studying are Pitcher, First Baseman and Short-Stop. The rest are relatively straight-forward, and have very predictable responses - as would be expected from their positions.
I don't know who would care about watching a first baseman's video or a shortstop's video...well in some cases a few minutes of shortstop footage might be nice, but nothing like what these guys have for pitchers and hitters. I'd like to see some notes on other fielders, but if I was to watch video, as a hitter (played catcher defensively) I would watch only a pitcher's video. I'd rather watch random YouTube videos about Japanese game shows than see a first baseman catch ground balls or cover first base while trying to get something out of it.
The last screenshot has the caption, "which in turn starts the D-I we all know and love."
Those saying goodbye to Windows that haven't already said hello to Debian don't know or love the "D-I" (which they probably know what D-I is).
Sure, it makes sense to most of us here, but Joey Bagodonuts won't have any clue what that page means.
As a followup to my vague, sourceless post, this article details some of the stats on Chicago's camera network, for those interested in what the cameras are about.
As far as the camera network goes, Chicago already has many of these cameras in place, but right now they are only in place in high-crime areas. Here is an image of what they look like, and they also have microphones on them and can record gunshot sounds. These cameras are very well liked from what I have read and there are plans to install more of them across the city, not just in high-crime areas.

I've followed GT games from the beginning and was always let down by this, but one explanation I have read (for probably each version of the game) was that certain car manufacturers didn't want their cars to be damaged...probably the rare or smaller manufacturers, or the custom tuners. Since they couldn't get all cars damaged, they wouldn't make only some cars take damage.
Problems shouldn't happen. This is what testing and quality control are supposed to prevent.
We say the same thing with software, but accept the reality that some amount of problems are going to happen. How is this any different? (other than the obvious that its hardware and not software)
Sun has denied that their move to back Ubuntu is a move against Red Hat, or SuSE. Whether or not that is believable is another question, but thats just what they have said.

I'll save you the trouble, my IP is 127.0.0.1
Netcraft confirms it: Firefox 3.0 is dead.
Then why would you 'upgrade'?

It seems to be working quite often.

This one made me chuckle I catch myself typing "pythong" every once in a while. Freudian slip I guess.

Then again, I didn't RTFA, just other comments.

I'd hate to see that one come up while driving.

As long as it involves two edged diamond tipped swords, you can count me in.

Its news to me at least. I've never seen this look before.
