There is no need for: Retaining an atmosphere
Heating/Cooling
Recyling water (or even bringing water in the first place)I get your point but few things are necessary on unmanned ships. Many equipments require proper heating and cooling. water is excellent source of coolant and also used in heating. In this process water is often recycled so it doesn't have to carry more unecessarilly.
I am not from China, but i am from the region, so i wanna say what i have in mind. I do not think that this correctly reflects how Chinese generally think about Tibet. I don't even think it is done by regular people, rather planned by gov'nt. even if it is true, understandable to do so, it is done that way because of they are ignorant, patriotic. I am no more ignorant than they are in general, so i am not trying to be elitist for living in the states. but they are ignorant about their own country and about the world and where they are now. I rather feel strong apathy. i am happy to be living in the free world because of my own rights to not be "ignorant". One may be more "free" in 3rd world country if you have money than in the 1st world. This only reflects that Chinese are just ignorant and has openess in their attitude. Personally i have met friends who came from China and people close to me went long term missions trip to China, so i know that not every chinese people are this ignorant and apathetic. The people who wrote this article should not have shown only the biased side of them, should have balanced both side of the opinion even if one side is minority. How apathetic are we? comes to think, to accuse China for Tibet, yet 1st world nations commit something aweful everyday, and all of us commit sins everyday how do i have right to judge another and accuse another?
Very similar law has already been practiced in Korea. The government sends you a bill: up to 10% as "income tax", even if you are a normal person and sells things in large quantity or large amount of money. I personally sold USD $15,000+ worth of furnitures and other items via one of the major auction sites and the government has successfully sent me bills, about $600 total so far. i say, shit! wait its "sibal" in korean. This doesn't seem like a attempt to revive local economy by discouraging such purchases from other states. Why are they doing this?
he took 1500 hrs to solve that damn thing. I take a minute. have a random chinese guy and the cube orders itself. Dammit! sorry. i just took calculus test and my caffeine dosage is nondecreasing at exponential rate.
"New Red Hat CEO Jim Whitehurst has hit out at enterprises, bemoaning that billions of dollars are wasted each year because 95% of companies won't share code. I bemoan that libraries of congress are wasted by storing millions of books that thousands of stores sell and i bemoan that thousand cars equivalent worth of code is wasted and i bemoan that i am wasting every joke out there which is used by every slashdotters.
Just don't be the neat-frick-pussy in the office and just keep the guy with Cheetos bag out of your cubicle. Spread some cheetos here and there on the ground so no one wanna step into your cubicle. I can already smell that you are the 'neat freak'. u don't like locks, you don't like drawers. so what? lavitating desk and invisible force shield? dream on!
Microsoft should release first version of OS for free as a trial. something like "Retarded OS BETA" or "Mac ripp off Trial" would fit. and then sell patched version or the service pack for charge. The number of version of windows increases each time it increases. what's going to be next? version for extreme pop up viewers(r)? maximum viral os version? slashdot enabled os?
Thanks for helping me to recover my dream. Imagine a trip to mars alone. But i would say "I am not alone. There are 3 of us. Ben & Jerry & I" Come on people! We just saw 'kimchi in space' article a decade ago. what else is impossible?
does it run linux? I am gonna plant linux into my brain! does my spoon run linux? does my dog run linux? does my gf run linux? is the water linux friendly? will consuming that extra donut will have marginal effect on penetration of linux? omfg i need stethoscope now!
sorry...i had to do it. hail Free speech!
think about pizza from Italy. Did italy sue corporates in America for selling pizza? what about kimchi from Korea? did Koreans sue Japanese and chinese restaurant owners for selling and serving kimchi and pronounce it differently? unless, in a such case: Japanese pronounce "m" sound as "meu". so they decided to steal "kimchi" as if it was from Japan by calling it "kimuchi". it is natural way to Japanese to pronounce 'm',as "meu". Japanese are actually fighting back claiming that they had it all along. but who cares? everybody knows this came from Korea. what do you think of when you think about 'pizza'. i would think 'pizza hut' right away, even if i don't like their pizza. and pizza hut is very american. but do someone claim that pizza came from America? no. did pyramid exist only in egypt? it may have existed there for long time and the size is incomparable. but there are many other cultures that had pyramids. pyramids in egypt is only monumental because it is very old and big. no one will claim that egyptian pyramids came from Tokyo or something, unless you are a japanese CEO of Sony or some other war criminals in japan.

Researchers found that the successful transfer of the jellyfish gene to mice made almost all tissues of the animal fluorescent

is this bot really "woman" or is it man-thought woman just enough to coax men into the conversation designed? assuming that it is programmed mostly by the men, this just caused people to be heterosexual by reacting to man created thoughts? can that become heterosexual? wouldn't it be like man actors acting woman in traditional japanese theater? wouldn't it be that it's logic and mechanic responsive behavior that man gets interested into?

This is just another way to teach robot by having direct interaction between the robot and the instructor. Robot yet still needs to be monitored closely by human and it does not do all that in its own. It still needs human's help. robot that learns like baby could be useful if it does something already well. maybe it can learn to create something better than it is originally programmed to do and play music more creatively and play sports such as golf and table tennis. but instructor himself is not perfect neither. lets say instructor teaches his robot to carry a fairly heavy box or large panel by simply putting(forcing) robotic hands on the sides of the box. then robot moves few feet and instructor realizes that it overstressed robotic arm. carrying it around with different position by finding center of weight by just lifting it up to knee high and experimenting comfortable position as humans do, could have prevented that. This is interesting progress anyway. I am bilingual who speaks English language as a second language. and during the beginning years of studying english, i thought a lot about how babies learn language. for instance, visualizing concepts and objects in your head, not just memorizing spellings and grammars. it is easy to ignore simple things. but we have yet to learn a lot from simpler ones(babies), and simple things that surrounds us.
As early as 60s in Korea, Govn't have been helping chaebols http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaebol/ in the effort to push industrialization.
