When I woke up this morning I thought, "you know what would be great? If my screen could get hacked and be recording me at the same time." Slashdot never fails to deliver!;)
The mice are easy to contain. What's difficult is containing the humans who are responsible for transporting things like mice on and off the island. It would only take 10 years tops but humans can't seem to stop migrating.
If they do this, it wouldn't be to "curry favor" with Trump, it would be a move to further destabilize the US. As a result of multiple factors (including Russian interference) we have a the most unpopular president in a century who is extremely divisive. Returning Snowden would be a move to stoke those flames and cause more unrest. There are many reasons for doing this but ultimately, a less stable US is better for their own nation.
Finally a feature we can really use in our everyday lives. I bet some poor sap got fired after suggesting, "if we make our phones a little bit thicker we could double the battery life!" What an idiot.;)
Setting cars on fire, assaulting people, and breaking windows isn't "protesting."
Actually, it depends on if the targets of destruction are incidental or purposefully selected. If they are incidental then it's a riot. However, if there is a reason behind their choice of targets, it's a violent protest.
Heretic! You shall address his majesty as Lord Sol the Magnanimous Light Bearer, Bringer of Life and Chaser of Luna! I mean, I get why he chases Luna, she's a minx. I mean one time I was out late at night by the lake and-HEY! COME BACK HERE and apologize to Sol for your insolence! HA! That one gets me every time!;)
If you can get 512Gbits on one chip why are they expensive? Unless yields are low chips are not expensive to manufacture.
I know this one! "3D lithography" is actually just regular lithography with an ridiculous amount of chemical deposition layers (64 in this case). Each layer has steps to add, subtract and verify that layer was properly made. Overall, this can take several weeks before a wafer is completed and yes, there are defects and they track those defects. They have a suitably high yield or they don't bother making them until they work out the process so that they do. Much of the work is done by machines but humans ensure quality is as optimal as possible. I would say that all in all, it's because it's a lengthy process and people are willing to pay for the resulting chips.
You make a very good case for why it's foolish to invest significant resources into a cell phone. That's kinda my point. If you must have it, get a basic cell phone that you can chuck and move on.
Fucking government, making rules and shit to protect people, even though most people aren't violently killed by the very things they're trying to prevent.
EXACTLY! For too long governments have been making it difficult for all us low-level serial killers making our stab at the big leagues!;)
I'm speaking more to well documented standards but you are correct that patents are a serious issue. The good news is that patents expire but closed software is almost never opened.
If you pay for an overpriced pocket computer loaded with proprietary everything, you should fully expect the abuse that is headed your way because you went in knowing it was proprietary. Whenever you invest in proprietary technology, you willing ensnare yourself on the leash of corporations. This has always been true but the advent of ubiquitous connectivity has made this leash yanking quite pronounced.
To really understand, you need to know that in fending off hoards of shitty apps, all the "launchers" we backed off a cliff and fell to their doom... only to awaken and sensing something had changed. It turned out their mortal forms were no more and they were compelled to kill each other off because "there can be only one.";)
But also, Putin has stated that "there is only one superpower" in the world.
Putin says a lot of things.
Putin most definitely does not want another Cold War.
That must explain why he invaded Ukraine.
They have some things to fix first. But let's at least leave the door open...
Even if he has the purest of intentions, returning Snowden would make the US less stable.
It also cooks a burrito in 2.7 seconds. :)
The surrounding area is completely entrenched with plants from the Cannabis genus. This is clearly Stonedhenge.
No, not really. Didn't you RTFA? Ha! I'm a kidder, we know you didn't. ;)
and I doubt they even wrote the executive order.

Good luck keeping it contained.

And spokespeople for Russia have already stated "Nonsense"
Right... because Russia is so credible.
Claims that Russian forces entered Ukraine 'complete rubbish,' Russia says
Disable Cortana.
... maker of the Paltalk video chat app and FistMe dating app
oh my.
...that we should ban Trump's statements since they are typically at least as fabricated as the Daily Mail?
As a reference of factual information, yes. As proof that he made a claim, no.
470C? Oh please, my AMD chip runs at least twice as hot as that. ;)

It is invasive enough at the moment...
oh, so you're going to be one those people that say anal probes are "too invasive", aren't you? ;)

Wouldn't that be the sun?

It seems like every service, site, and program I use is steadily being degraded, feature-ized and/or monetized until it's a steaming pile of shit.
Welcome to capitalism! ;)
We've gone past a point of no return.
We've past a point of no return. We're still on course for turning our planet into Venus 2.
