Yet another reason, if we really *need* another, to quit using MS products. [...] After seeing all of the multiple forms of abuse MS heaps on those who still use Windows...
Hold your horses buddy! You can't just take my schadenfreude joy away! I mean, come on, not when the real suffering is just about to begin!;)
Windows Blog Italia is backed by Microsoft. The images were not leaked, they were released. Had it been a leak, the entire domain would now be offline.
If all you record is the emergencies, then you miss all the times when it is marginally operational but still functioning, or when it is not providing sufficient services such that the patient self-limits his activity to stay within device limits.
It seems like you are unaware of the actual function of a pacemaker. A pacemaker only activates when your heart misses a beat (hence making the pace) and yes, those events should be reported. However, the vast majority of the time, a pacemaker is merely a passenger in your body. The question is, why do pacemakers report back the exact details of times when no actions were taken? Anything older than a half hour should be overwritten (with the exception of when actions have been taken by the device or almost taken by the device) and only events where the device took action should be reported.
But why not just create an umbrella that owns Tesla Motors as a subsidiary?
That's a great idea and name! I can't wait for Elon to tell us about all the great cool things the Umbrella Corporation is going to do for us. I'm looking forward to their bio-engineering projects!:)
It kinda looks like a vinyl record. Has anyone tried playing it yet?
It was an interesting idea so I actually used 287 images taken by NASA's probe to compose a virtual "vinyl imprint". I then used an optical recognition program to decode the audio and the result was great.
[It would] be fucking awesome if everybody stuck to being snide about electronics/technology instead of politics.
You must be new here. You should prepare for several years of butthurt from all parties. Frankly, I'm looking to the poopflinging that a presidential impeachment will bring!
if you don't like how an open source system works then you can always modify the program. sure, you might have to pay someone with the knowledge to make it happen but it's still possible. the same is not true of closed source.
Darwinism doesn't stop just because we live in societies and take care of the weak, it's just changes. Now survival of the fittest means you know enough to help your offspring. People who get goods that are not FDA approved are not selected for.
All these insecure systems need to be attacked and exposed for the garbage that they are. Everyone that knows about computer systems or security has been screaming that IoT systems are bad and are not to be trusted. Despite all of this, plenty of fools in management went ahead because they are arrogant pricks who don't give a shit about what other people think. At this point, getting hit with ransomware is your wage, as in, you have gone out of your way to earn it.
The Hindenburg disaster happened on May 6, 1937, almost exactly 80 years go. Have you seen the pictures? If you saw it going down in flames, you can't tell me that it wouldn't be the most metal thing you've ever seen.;)
More importantly, the money isn't gone forever. You seem to believe that we will never be able to offer anything the Chinese would ever want. That's just basically false. They are buying stuff from us like airplanes, construction equipment, entertainment, and high tech stuff.
Actually, China has their own high tariffs on externally produced goods. The result is a near exclusive use of domestic goods and a much higher inflow of money than outflow from other countries.
Truly explosive answers to this fiery torrent of questions that have consumed the world like a gas station attendant making their final call on a Note 7!;)

I guess that makes the non-Cloud version Pound Sand Edition. ;)
In full compliance with the Bill of Rights, in other words. Are we supposed to be outraged anyway?
I think the real issue here is privacy. Why does his pacemaker report/record anything that isn't an emergency or suspect of one?

This is the source of the information. It's part of PBS' "Search for the Super Battery" which airs today (February 1, 2017) at 9 pm on PBS.
I'm looking forward to the AI that absolutely destroys the stock market which in turn will end the stock market.

The difference in cost to change a closed source program versus an open source program is several orders of magnitude.

Oracle doesn't have customers, they have hostages.
the same applies with all non-free software because a corporation decides what you are allowed do with the software instead of you.

You reap what you sow.
... many researchers and doctors think depression may be the killer app.
over a million depressed people commit suicide every year, so it's been the "killer app" for quite some time.
So that's, what... two guys and a duck?
Don't be ridiculous, they wouldn't disrespect the duck like that... the guys on the other hand...
If you trust a consumer-grade device with state secrets then you have lost before you even began.
I can't wait to be able to properly swear at Alibaba merchants! ;)

I know it's not the first post but the voices insisted I post anyway. ;)
You can reconsider lawsuits all you want but in the mean time your lawyers are still going forward. Tell me when he makes up his mind.

Code.org correctly reinforces "cloud bad" to people who should be fearful of putting their data in the cloud.
FTFY.
