    Who the hell modded you up? You have obviously never been involved in a large-scale backup solution.
    Disks DIE. Tapes rarely do (comparatively). Tapes, although slow and linear, are incredibly durable.

    HDDs aren't exactly volatile, but they are a heck of a lot more susceptible to corruption and failure due to the fact that you have both a magnetic storage medium AND the circuitry to power and control it on one device. And if one dies, you're pretty much fucked. A tape is only one of these, and is simpler and more reliable.

    So why do we do things the old-fashioned way? Because it FSCKING WORKS!!

    Once copying a dying HDD, I had to continually hit 'retry' on the copy operation when it encountered a CRC error. Eventually I just took a heavy wristwatch and placed it on the enter key.

    HDD successfully copied!

    Buying a hard-to-find item around the holidays with the sole purpose of jacking up its price is both a sound financial decision and a monstrous thing to do. Basing morality on economics doesn't always work out so well.

    The blackberry WAP Push service for quick email relies on your BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) being connected to exchange, catching your email, forwarding it to their servers, which then alert your device. All mail on blackberries travels outside your corporation

    With the exception of one line of products, blackberry devices run a RIM-provided OS. The BlackberryOS. Not windows PE
    Furthermore, when I install applications from a browser onto my blackberry, they are typically .jar or .jad. Java apps.

  12. Some of us are limited to two major companies when picking high-speed internet access. So one pulls this shit, we switch, then we're up the creek when they follow suit. I have many backwater friends limited to ONE choice. What are they supposed to do? Run their own fiber?

    Are you routing or switching? What purpose do you have that requires linux specifically? Are you just anti-Cisco, anti-brand name?

    You specify that you are building a router then request a switch hardware. What level are you managing your network at? What kind of throughput are you trying to get (10/100, 100 full, gigabit?) Are you managing at the port level or at the IP level (switching vs routing)?

    Elaborate and maybe then we can get you some answers :)

    Kindly put, the HDTV formats are (in descending order of quality): 1080p (1,920 x 1,080 pixels progressive scan), 1080i (1,920 x 1,080 pixels interlaced), 720p (1,280 x 720 pixels progressive scan), and 480p (720 x 480 pixels progressive scan).

    There's some question as to 1080i vs 720p in quality, and I have never heard of a 720i or 480i (although I see no reason why they might not exist).

    I agree! I started working civil contracts when I was 16 without college, now I'm 22 and I make 33/hr and an MCP I got via nearly the same story.

    I don't get it. I was never lost in Halo. I wished they let you explore *more*

    As for the similarities between game 1 and game 2, I like sequels to be mostly plot sequels, but that me. My opinions notwithstanding, the second game was geared more towards team combat and less about single-handedly owning.

    (the windows mentality is what means that corporations have hundreds or thousands of servers running one application each, but each server is a multi-ghz machine)
