1) Hire only teachers that do not have a college degree with a focus on primary or secondary education
What a concept! Have teacher teach the subject they majored it! 2) Dissolve the unions so they can get an even lower wage than they are getting now (should help with recruiting these teachers to teach in public schools in poor, troubled areas rather than make more teaching in private schools or richer districts, right?)
Lower wages? When I started in IT, teachers in Alabama were making more than me. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for teachers. But when unions get involved, it seems that the kids take a back seat. 3) Bring back corporal punishment to "quiet down" all those disruptive kids instead of leaning towards a cirriculum that will actually engage them and make learning interesting and rewarding
It's called discipline. No matter how good the curriculum, you'll still have to make the kids behave. 4) Turn a blind eye to physical harm of said children
What?? 5) Ultimately, get rid of public schools althogether?
If you didn't produce at your job, would they get rid of you?
Generally, on slashdot (and digg), if they're complaining about politics, but don't mention a party, its the Democrats. Most people here seem to be left leaning and therefore don't want to say anything negative about the most left leaning party. They'll try to cover it up by saying things like 'yeah, well, both parties are just as bad'. If ya hang around long enough, you start to see thru it.
So I guess AT&T realized that since they haven't maintained their networks, there hardware can't handle the customer demand for bandwidth. So they had to find a way to reduce the load.
Were they studying to be doctors or some other profession where people's lives could be in danger? Would you want to go to a doctor that didn't really pass, but bought his degree instead?
So, you're saying that a telecom company actually invested in its infrastructure, and that gave it a competitive advantage? They could be on to something here...

This certainly doesn't look like "a mass of a couple hundred undifferentiated cell" to me.
Especially when you consider that it has a heartbeat.
"willing to pass laws against future scenarios based on science fiction novels and hollywood films"
Sure you're not talking about Al Gore and his global warming crusade?
Dude, you should so write to the law maker in your state that wrote the anti-spam law and let him/her see how judges are misinterpreting it.

So, they're looking to hire people that carry guns that are willing to accept a job at minimum wage. That should tell you something right there.
So maybe those robbers where just applying for a job by demostrating what they'd do if anyone broke in.
You can't take a record, stick it in your computer and rip it to mp3.
At least not without special hardware.
Kinda makes ya wonder when DirecTV & Dish can put things in orbit around the planet and still be cheaper than cable.
Is it ok if we photoshop...errrr...GIMP some pictures to make it look like we had a slashdot party when we really didn't?
Wikipedia article must contain no cleanup tags, no "citation needed" tags, no disambiguation links, no dead external links, and no fair use images
I'm not sure of the last time I saw a wikipedia article that didn't have one of those.
But will it blend?
Imagine a Beowulf cluster of these.
But will it run Linux?
In Soviet Russia, universal are turning machines.
