    That my be true, but now they're going after 80s TV. We've got movies coming out of The A-Team and the Dukes of Hazzard. And we just had starsky and hutch (ok, that's 70s, but close enough).

    Video editing suite -- If you need to do heavy video editing you shouldn't be buying a $500 computer anyway.

    I think this computer is targeted more at people who want to edit home movies.

    Wait a minute. You're a strapped comp sci student. You have 100gigs of itunes. If you assume about 3.5MB per song, that gives you around 28,571 songs. At 99 cents each, you're talking about $28,285. No wonder you're a strapped student! :-)

    Oh wait, you said "music in itunes", not itune songs. Nevermind.

    • Tabbed Browsing Built in

    • Different settings for each open window. For instance, you can have one website open with pictures turned on and another with them turned off.

    • If it/computer crashes, you can have it open with the websites you were viewing when it crashed.

    • Google search bar built in.

    • Has a toggle switch to make viewing ugly websites easier. Like if you find a site with yellow text on a white background it can render it with black text.

    • Mouse gestures

    • Mouse clicks: Holding right button and clicking left is like hitting back button. Holding left button and clicking right button is like hitting forward button.

    • FireFox: 4.7 MB (Windows) Opera: 3.5 MB (Windows, non java version). I'm not sure if the FireFox download includes java.

    • FireFox: Windows, Mac OS X, Linux Opera: Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris, OS/2 (older version), QNX (older version) and mobile phones.

    So now they've gone back to where they started. They were G4 before the merger, now they're G4 after the merger. The only difference (besides a couple of cast members they got from techtv) is that they are on DirecTv now. I wonder if that was what this was about all along. Maybe they simply wanted to get into TechTv's markets.

    I meant I want to replace my (non-mp3) thumbdrive. Since the iPods can also act as thumbdrives I'm considering it as a replace for my old thumbdrive.

    You know, I'm wondering something. I wonder if they made this thing so small to encourge people to take it out and show it off. Want to tell you friends about your new Mac? Just take it over to their house and plug it in to their monitor. Wanna convince the boss that it could be a solution to some of your problems? Take it to work and plug it in!

    I was tuned in to hear about the new "Mac mini" because I was planning on buying one if it was true. But now I'm also interested in the new iPod. My old thumbdrive just died and I'd like to replace it with a new 1GB one. If I could get one with an mp3 player too (that also plays my iTune songs) that'd be great. (Although I saw and ad today for one from another company that also includes a voice recorder...but no itunes.)

    I wonder if I could put Linux on it and boot from it. Think about it: a computer with Microsoft Windows on it, booted into Linux running on hardware made by Apple!

    01:53 PM - Autofill: button in iTunes to make a playlist sized for the iPod shuffle. You can also manually fill it. You can also use the iPod Shuffle as a USB flash drive (choose how much for songs how much for data).

    As many readers know, planets outside our solar system are typically found by watching for wobbles in a star's orbit or for dimming caused by the planet crossing in front of its star.


    Besides being a joke, my post was also a jab at how we find new planets. I don't think because a star's light dims, we can assume we've found a new planet.

    It does not orbit a normal star, and it is much more massive than the largest planets in our solar system.

    So, we've found an object in space that's unlike any other planet we've seen, so we assume it's a planet?

    I've noticed the same thing at Amazon.com--people commenting on products that haven't been released yet. And I've noticed something similar at download.com. People will give a program a thumbs down because their download failed. They never even used the program, but they give it a bad mark anyway.

    The problem is that local sales taxes vary so much here. It would be impossible for a business to advertise a price that included tax. If they put an ad in the paper, people in dozens of tax areas would actually pay a different price.
