I've been an Opera user since verison 3 and it's still my favorite browser.
I recently tried Firefox 1.0 and I still like Opera better. Firefox has tabs, but I couldn't put them at the bottom of the screen. And with Opera I can have two sites open -- one with pictures on and one with pictures off -- at the same time. And there's a buttom on every window (or "tab") that lets me switch between "author" mode and "user" mode. That means if I come across a website that has say yellow text on a white background I can press this button and it'll change to black text on a white background.
The process described in Shoebox Holography requires developing the film/plates in chemicals like regular film. This new one is promising "Instant Holograms".
"Feel special. DSL here is 2048/256 for a bit under $60 here."
Well, I guess I should feel real special. Cause I only pay $22 a month for unlimited access. Course that's for dial up. DSL's not available and the cable company won't even run cable tv down a dirt road.
I would do ALMOST ANYTHING for a high bandwith connection.
"Hopefully the movie industry and electronics manufacturers will see the same logic and avert a format war."
Why?
Look what happened with DVDs. Computer DVDs were pushed back for a long time while we waited for the movie industry to work out their copyright stuff. What if the computer industry and movie industry chose different standards this time? Wouldn't that allow the computer industry to move ahead with new technologies instead of waiting for the movie industry to catch up?
"Q: Why did you rework the original trilogy into the special-edition versions in the late 1990s?
LUCAS: To me, the special edition ones are the films I wanted to make. Anybody that makes films knows the film is never finished.... I wanted to actually finish the film the way it was meant to be when I was originally doing it."
I find it hard to believe that he couldn't have Greedo shoot first back in 1977, if that's how he orginally wanted it.

Why was this modded as Troll. It was apparently a joke.
"you can always got to Topcoder "
:-)
i thought _goto_ "is considered harmful"
Turn off your Dreamcast and slowly remove your copy of Crazy Taxi.
Then take your pills.
"for a shuttle launch in may."
Is that suppose to be "launch in May."? Or maybe you meant "may launch in May." Or maybe "May may be the launch time".
Ok, ok. I know. Mod me down -1: Lame joke attempt
But then how are you to suppose to play solitaire?

And if you have Works, you qualify for upgrade pricing on the lastest verison of MS Word.
Maybe they should call it "DVD 2" :-)

"Does this mean better service for Sony's already nice line up of electronics?"
If they pay their salepeople decently and train them well.
Maybe they're trying to recuit new geeks :-)
I thought we were still mad at amazon.com for the 1-click patent. :-)
That reminds me...i have to go there and check on my order...

I don't know. After "Steven Spielberg presents Taken", I don't know if I want anymore scifi from him.
Why do I get the feeling that the one that is least like the orginal will be called "H. G. Well's War of the Worlds"?
Why is it that when a movie/book gets remade and changes a lot from the orginal, they prefix the author's name to it?
You know, in 50 years, Star Wars will probably get remade. I wonder how that will turn out.
"Hines feels there will be room for both films to exist, as they will be drastically different in story and scope"
Normally this would be ok, but theses two movies have the same name. It's going to be very confusing at Blockbuster.
>Good use of $1 million?
Well, I could name some worse...
"It's a set of technologies that allow you to store metadata in a SQL-like database, and query for that information."
We already have SQL-like databases. So why do we need this?
"banned from various ...public schools around the nation."
Some may have simply been a case where students were reading the book in class while the teacher was trying to teach.
Oh yea?
I remember running POV Ray on an 8MHz Atari STe.
1MB ram. 70Gb hard drive (that cost an arm & a leg).
I remember having to a special pgm that would trick the 16 color graphics card into displaying 15000 colors so I could see the picture.
If 49% of people are (like me) still on dial-up, then why are there so many websites that only work well on broadband?
Or they could have just made Palms with Compact Flash card sockets...
That's the list of bugs it fixes...where's the list of problems it causes?
