I'd bide my time on this. Allowing another company to make a similar, cheaper, but of a lesser quality product can often have a beneficial impact on the original product.
In this case users that may have been prohibited by the Mac price tag may be able to pick up a product with a similar/same OS and begin to use it. Down the line these consumers may like the product and decide the next time to spend a little extra to get the "good" one.
Worse comes to worst Apple can always enforce its EULA, which would be interesting because you don't often see those types of court cases, and can regain their market share.
Gene therapy typically employs a more benign retrovirus that will insert thier own RNA into a cell. This is exactly how HIV works and we have been able to do this both in vitro and in vivo. The problem is that this doesn't often work out the way we want it to. Just like HIV which is enacted upon by the immune system in some way, the new virus will be as well. Mutations in this new virus within the body are unpredictable.
If you don't believe me look at what happened at the University of Pennsylvania back in 2000.
HIV and AIDs are still very scary but with the release of the Protease Inhibitors in the 90s it has completely changed from a terminal to chronic disease and the regimens have gone from an extremely high pill burden to even 1 pill once a day (see: Atripla)
They didnt produce a less graphically powered console because they couldnt compete with the 360, the did it on purpose. Real gamers know that better graphics dont equate to better games, but I'm fine with this all, I like indie music and indie movies. Now I get to like indie games and I can have scorn for the britney spears of the gaming world. Halo 3.
There were some spectacular quests in Everquest two for the Heritage items, most of the quest was not just killing and some were even races and little clue hunts, it was really a wild ride.
Oh and the little known game Horizons released two years ago or so hosted fantastic shard wide epic quests every week where the shard would have to come together to accomplish a massive task. Some involved building bridges, digging mines, defeating epic monsters and one amazing one was the casting of a spell that involved a dozen high level mages armed with 12 different wands that were quite difficult to get.
Maybe now I can go buy some batteries without having to give them my full address, phone, business phone, zip code and passport identification number with accompanying retina scan.
When did this fanboy thing start anyways? I've been seeing it for about 2 years now. It used to be that everyone loved Nintendo, now when I post on a board about my nintendophilic tendancies I get labeled as a fanboy and scoffed at...
The revolution will feature backwards compatibility with all GCN titles simply because the architecture did not change so drastically. Additionally it will feature ports or wireless recievers for gamecube controllers anyway so you can play the new zelda with GCN controls or (if my dreams come true) the new revolution controller.
I personally think its in Sony's best interest to launch the PS3 later. The 360 met with a very cold opening, and many enlightened gamers who have played thier share of the newer XBOX can agree that it really isn't next gen, to a PC gamer its nothing special at all.
Launching down the line will seperate Sony and Nintendo as being a new generation of gaming consoles even if they arent actually.
I already look at the XBOX1.5 as being just an upgrade of its predecessor. The real next generation begins with a REVOLUTION!!
You know what else there is? HD TVs are in about 9% of households right now. I know that people with HD TVs crave that HD flavor but you're not missing much when you settle on 480p instead of 720i (which by the way isnt supported by any XBOX games I know of)
Oh and the Rev will never be more than $300 don't worry.
There's no way that the PS3 could possibly be priced at or over $800. My current thoughts put the PS3 at $500 or possibly $400 and $600 (with Blue ray option).
People think that getting to the market a year later than the 360 was a huge mistake, I think its fine. XBOX hasnt released a single game that is actually next gen yet.
Well all the better graphics cards are going PCIEx16, the new physics processors are going to be PCIEx1, I cant recall any controller cards so you cant even use it to add more HDs, if you have a legacy MoBo with an AGP (and this has to be pretty legacy at this point, i dont think I have had AGP for 4 years now) just chuck it and buy a new board. Come on, if you're looking at this board then you can probably afford $100 and buy yourself a decent Abit KN-8
Oh I have a use!
No card, but you can put another fan in that slot instead. Case closed.
Oh get off your high horse, if you don't admit that Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior defined this genre then you're just being a stubborn archaist. Sure the Ultima games came first and I played some of them. They were glorified MUDs in my opinion, all they did was add graphics. Final Fantasy and the Dragon Quest have become the rudiments of the genre, from thier depth of play to thier soaring storylines.
They brought these games to the next level, and if you have ever played any of the recent final fantasy's, dragon quests, chrono-cross and trigger you would see how they have poured themselves into the genre.
To your original argument to take a precedence stance, any RPGs can be traced back to MUDs and traced back to dice and cards, but I see no reason to consult the past. I revere those who have come before me, those that have graced our computers and consoles with RPGs, because like literature, they are an encapturing art form. But I won't stand for inelegance or anyone referring to classic RPGs as "dumbed down newbie"s.

The 1 millionth unique user occured after only 3 months and 3 weeks, not 5 months.
